I feel really awful to give this place a bad review, however I can't ignore the amount of bones I end up spitting out. The service is amazing and the people there are so lovely. I used to go every two weeks with no issues but then I had fish full of bones two weeks running. Not just one or two but several. So I stopped going for a few months but decided to take my daughter there last weekend and both our fish were fine. Sadly tonight I had haddock and there were more bones than before, one in particular was so large I dread to think what might have happened if I hadn't spotted it before taking a bite. Read moreI have driven past Merton Fish Bar many times and finally got round to trying them. I ordered my usual favourite of haddock and chips for takeaway. No surprise I had to wait a while because haddock is usually cooked to order in most places. They have a nice bench to sit on opposite the counter. A very fine, large piece of haddock appeared and was placed in a box with a generous serving of good quality chips. I never ask for salt & vinegar, preferring my own at home but I am pleased to be offered a slice of lemon as I was here. Read moreWhat a mistake it was coming here, come in ordered a saveloy and chips for £7 and some change it was the worst saveloy I have ever had in my life was so soggy you could almost push a finger through it without any real pressure, the taste was revolting l immediately spat it out. the chips were ok but could tell they were cooked in old oil as lots of black specs were on them. So as a whole payed £7 something for chips and a Dr Pepper what a disgrace charging premium prices for the cheapest food is just a poor thing to do will never be coming back.
