Food as ever as good as it could possibly be. Service….. after a warm welcome we were sat down. Orders for drinks and bread taken. Staff looked harassed. Cooks behind long bar looked chilled which was a good sign nobody wants to eat food prepared by stressed chefs. Ordered a mix of veg and fish tapas type dishes. Drinks arrived as did first dish on its own….. no bread….! What? No bread? What side of hell is this. As we picked at our single (1 of4) lonely dish willing something more to arrive the waiting staff (or at least 2 of 3) seemed intent on positioning themselves between a very narrow space between till and the bar at times. Just as the last forkfuls of our lonely first dish were eaten our second small plate arrived with the bread! All of a full 15 minutes since we got our drinks. After wolfing down our insanely flavoursome prawns with garlic (rich buttery super dense fishy stock based sauce) an empty table…… again…. 5 minutes later our labne and chickpea salad arrived….on its lonesome again. More bread requested…. More drinks requested after wrestling an unfinished drink from waiting staffs fingers… No smiles no eye contact….. yes I know through personal experience that waiting tables is hard and at times gruelling thankless work but being like this doesn’t help with smooth customer interactions. After finishing the labne still all on its own the restaurant was emptying out (theatre goers like us) I enquired about our final dish saying it had been quite some time …. and voila like magic it appeared…. Had it been sitting there under the lights for a while…? We will never know. Having eaten at Moro numerous times and always been really impressed with care, attention and professionalism of all staff , I was really simply amazed its little sister was so badly and chaotically organised. Front of house spoiled what was excellent and perfectly prepared and presented food. I won’t be returning. Get a better front of house team and one more staff member...
Read moreI wish there was a separate section for reviewing the service, because I can't fault the food. Been here before and it is amazing. The staff, however, needs to get a better attitude. They forgot to order half of our food and didn't approach us till we got their attention after waiting for ages. After ordering the rest, they still forgot one dish (we ordered it twice at that point) which they still added to the final bill. We also initially had a wee problem with the wine we ordered which tasted vile, so we asked for a different one. The waiter straightaway was quite condescending and tried to get us to believe that our taste wasn't there and the wine was fine. We insisted on switching still and had a nicer wine. At the end of the meal, by the time we decided to get the bill and after failing to get all the dishes we ordered, we felt that we wouldn't pay the service charge. When the bill came, not only the charged us for the dishes they forgot to bring out, they also charged us for the wine we did not drink. When pointed out, they were apologetic and came back with a replacement bill, to which they then added two bottles of the wine we had as a replacement (we only had one) and when that was pointed out, they were all apologetic and claimed it was an accident. Oh the nerve. Still baffles me how adding something extra to the bill instead of removing things can be an accident. So yeah, food is excellent, staff needs to have a good chat with the management and retrained on how they deal with complaints...
Read moreHaving visited most of London's tapas restos, and various quality establishments in Spain, Morito left much to be desired. With the exception of the cod croquettes, the food was greasy, heavy, and overly flavoured - by which I mean there was an abundance of salt and no subtle flavours to be found. Add to this the anchovie-can seating arrangement that surely exceeds the overcrowding fire code, and the altogether too loud music it meant we could barely have a conversation sitting next to one another on our uncomfortable bar stools. The waiter was short tempered and would not answer simple questions about the menu relating to my milk allergy, and only came by one time after taking our order - to drop off the food. We had to try to wave down several wait staff until finally one behind the counter reluctantly saw us and gave us another bottle of water, which had been empty for some time. At £25 per person without drinks, we left unsatisfied, with not the greatest feeling, and would not return. The quality and experience received do not merit the money paid or time wasted
