2023 original review, please see update below.
Such a lovely new donuts patisserie in Ballards Lane. Friendly, bright, tasteful and welcoming - with some seating outside which is always full and bustling - it adds community to the area. Their donuts are truly delicious and unique - like no other I have ever tasted - inspired by Greek tradition and recipes, according to the staff. They offer an inventive range of sweet cakes, donuts and chocolate of the best quality. Recommend highly.
Update 6/11/24: A year on, this bakery has become mediocre - the donuts and pastries are not that novel or delicious as before - and the staff awful. Even after this lovely review I wrote last year which has brought them business, they discriminated against me. The clientele is mostly construction workers and labourers who gather here in groups. The male employee there, because there was a group of male labourer customers there, discriminated against me based on my gender as a female and also other protected characteristics, making me feel very uncomfortable and causing me distress. The female employee working with him supported him in his discrimination. Avoid except...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really, really want to love this place. Iāve been here multiple times and sometimes Iāve had lovely fresh soft donuts with great taste. However, other times the donuts are dry and crumbly, as if theyāve been sitting out for days. I once asked the person at the counter which donuts were fresh, and she said all of them were baked that morning fresh. When I got them home for my family and guests, they were again dry and hard. Either they are lying to their customers or they are storing the donuts in such a way that they dry out within hours of being āfreshly baked.ā Itās embarrassing to offer them as a special treat to guests only to have them be so stale. I think the bakers should be honest and offer the day old donuts at a reduced rate, or just make sure the donuts are fresh every day. Itās just not worth paying full price when you canāt be certain if it will be good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBesides the fact that I had to wait for 4 girls that werenāt busy with customers to finish their chats, they asked me three times about how I would like my coffee and at the end they still prepared it incorrectly. So, that was a waste of time as they had to redo it. After all this nonsense, the cashier took the opportunity while I was on the phone to give me less change pretending she didnāt realise that I gave her a Ā£20 and was waiting the change from a Ā£20 and not a Ā£10 bill. I donāt think this cafe or its staff operates in an ethical manner. Very disappointing. I donāt think Iāll give them another chance. This is too bad. Iāll just go to the other Greek cafe in North Finchley, as I never had...
