I've experienced lots of good Vietnamese food throughout the years. Unfortunately this has been one of my worst eating out experiences in years. The food lacks flavor, summer rolls are mostly lettuce and don't have fresh herbs that one expects. The spring rolls again-tasted odd (as if lower grade meat had been used). The sweet potato 'pancakes' were two waffles stuck together with one battered prawn on top which was again odd and greasy. The main was ordered as Catfish, the waiter asked which catfish as there are two types. I asked for the clay pot curry Catfish. They served a pork curry - which was pure fat. When we called the waiter over he insisted that I changed my mind for pork. Lesson 1-don't gas light your customers. Eventually the catfish arrived as in the photo it had watery greasy source that tasted like it had come from a packet. What tiny bit of fish was in there was again, Rubery and pure fat. To me, it didn't look or taste like catfish. Also, this type in a hotpot should come in a sizzling pot-it probably came straight from the microwave. The vegetables tasted like they were turning and I left what is in the picture. Everything tasted frozen and despite thinking their cash only policy was why the food looks so cheap, it's not, it's low grade frozen food that has nothing to do with genuine Vietnamese food that I'm used to. Giving a one star to give some ballance to the number of 5 star reviews, which must be from people who have either had no experience of good Vietnamese food, or just give 5 stats cause they can. It's rare I leave food in a restaurant. AVOID! We left and went and went to a much better Vietnamese restaurant across the road - which was empty. Hence my one...

This was our second time going here. I had made a reservation online, where I politely requested a table for 2, away from the door and bit more private, as it was to celebrate my husband birthday. I also called on the day to ask if I could bring his cake and they were happy for me to. As we arrived, we stood there whilst staff did not acknowledge us. We had to approach them and request our reserved seat. They acted like they had no idea and tried to squeeze us next to another couple. We requested for another seat and they bluntly told us that this is what we have sit down. We refused and walked towards outside that’s when a lady approached us and gave us sit next to the door. As we sat there, another couple came in and they asked them where would they like to sit, offering them options which included even downstairs. That came as a surprised to us since they told us otherwise. Our waiter approached us took our starter and drinks and abruptly took our menus, saying when you’re ready to order we’ll bring them back. We was who confused since we had not ordered our main. Once we were ready to order our main, it took ages for someone to come over and then they brought one main with both rice and my husband had to repeatedly ask where his food was. Then we realised that everyone in restaurant was white and we were black. The last time we went there, I made reservation but it was our white friends who got there before us, so they got the table and experience was much more pleasant. We would not go back here again, very disappointed and disgusted that in this day and age you are still treated by the colour...

Ordered a platter which was mainly lettuce! on the menu as meal for 2 when discussing with the lady we believed was £9 to share was actually £18. It was mainly lettuce in different forms Also ordered the sweet chicken main meal and got a breaded chicken cut in slices, lettuce cut up tomatoe served on a small puddle of flavourless water with drops of honey for “sweet flavours”

When we spoke with the waiter about the price of the platter he said everyone else in the resturaunt can read quite rudely when their menu has a unique layout running through however that particular one has it written smaller in brackets with the price for 1 person in bold making it misleading at a glance. Worst the “platter” was really 2 spring rolls & cold prawns wrapped in a lot of lettuce and a couple strips of calamari which was quite chewy

The couple next to our table ordered soup which one of our parties also ordered and said it was flavourless. They drank some left some change and walked out.

The coconut mocktail was awful we sent it back… service wasn’t great at all one particular gentlemen was quite rude. (he may of been the bartender with glasses) It was cold in there so we had to eat with our coats on. special fried / egg fried rice was okay however didn’t have much flavour. Needed salt.

cash only which was inconvinient. Won’t be returning anytime soon. Ambiance was okay could have...

[Please note that this place only takes cash] Came by on a Friday evening without a booking and the upstairs was very busy, but luckily they were able to seat us downstairs. The staff is super friendly and efficient. Service is very quick, from ordering drinks and food to having it all on the table hardly took more than 15 minutes and they served the dishes as they were ready. Having been here a few times before, it makes for a perfect lunch, and equally it’s a great place for dinner. Although it’s very quick service, it does not feel rushed, rather it comes across as attentive. The food is absolutely delicious. We had the spring rolls as a starter, which was crispy and tasty, Pepper Duck, Beef Stew (which was super tasty, but recommended to have with rice to soak up the sauce), and Bun Cha. All being absolutely delicious, however, the Beef Stew was on the more oily end, but nothing that made it stick out as unappetising. All in all, a great place for Vietnamese food if you’re in the Angel area. Will certainly keep coming back!
