New Dewaniam — Restaurant in London

Disappointed to say the least! I ordered from here a while back and can honestly say its massively gone down hill nowadays and not how i remembered it.

All the food was slightly warm as if it had been sat about for awhile and the taste was awful. Most of the food went in the bin except for the rice and poppadoms. The curry dish i ordered was watery and the container was only a quarter full with about 4 bits of lamb and not much sauce and tasteless due to the fact it had been proper watered down so it lacked much flavor, plus suppose to contain onions and tomatoes but not one in sight unfortunately. Keema naan was a disgrace it had about a teaspoon of meat inside sprinkled throughout and ive never known anything like it. By far the worst Keema naan I've ever had the misfortune of tasting. Saag aloo was again tasteless and lacked much flavour. The mixed kebab starter was strange as the chicken tikka wasnt properly cooked and had a nasty texture, and the rest of the meat was dry and over cooked and it had salad in the the box i guess to fill it out. The mint sauce was also very much watery and had the most bizarre taste about it as if it may of been on the turn or actually gone off already. No food, no refund, no help

I ordered a take away from Just eat from New Dewaniam takeaway which did not arrive. New Dewaniam called me to tell me my order would not be delivered due to them being short on drivers and the fact that I was in the congestion zone. The restaurant told me to wait a few days for my money to be refunded, which I did.

When the money was not refunded I contacted Just Eat who told me there was nothing they could do as it was over 48 hours from my order. I was then told New Dewaniam needed to be contacted to tell just eat to release the funds so they can be given back to me. I did so, New Dewaniam has apparently already given the permission for the money to be given back to me, so I called just eat again to have the same response and the restaurant again to again get the same response.

Neither just eat nor New Dewaniam is taking responsibility and are blaming each other without doing anything to resolve the problem.

Just eat has just lost a regular customer, and I will never be going to New Dewaniam again.

I owe this restaurant an apology. I was about to leave an angry review about my undelivered food when I discovered the real culprits: my phone carrier hasn’t been accepting calls (on top of the fact that my buzzer doesn’t work). The restaurant had actually been trying to reach me the whole time. They were incredibly gracious about the mix-up and even agreed to redeliver. (Although the delivery guy’s expression was a little grumpy but I would definitely be too in his shoes) I’m writing this review with more than a little embarrassment, but also genuine appreciation for their kindness.

Now for the food—it’s very good! I’ve ordered twice now and have been happy both times. The portions are good for the price, and the quality is consistent so far. Their Onion Bhaji deserves special mention: it’s enormous and absolutely delicious. Even after delivery, it arrives surprisingly crispy. I can only imagine how spectacular it must be fresh from...
