Went there for lunch - was offered a table but were told we could have it until 2pm as there was a reservation from 2pm.
At 1.35 a waitress comes by asking us to move to another table, as we are only half way through our main course. We tell the waitress we were told by the manager we could have the table until 2pm.
The manager came over, asked us to move to another table as the reservation people had arrived early. We reminded him that we had told us we could have it until 2. I proposed they wait by the bar and have a drink. He insisted we moved. So I informed him that his insistence had cut my appetite.
His mood turned to anger so he said "You can finish your meal but never come eat here again."
I was amazed at his response. I tried to speak to him again and his anger remained and he said I had been rude for saying that he had cut my appetite.
Little does he know that my staff have been spending a lot of money in the pub. I was even going to propose to our CEO that we hold a party in the pub to celebrate the success of my production but we will look for another venue now.
Message has been received. We will have our parties somewhere else.
There is no room in this world to treat any customer like a 2nd class customer. So I'll be taking our business elsewhere.
I've read reviews about this venue, and this rude behaviour from Kennington Bar and Kitchen staff is a recurring...
Read moreBeen meaning to visit this pub for ages, we used to come here years ago when it was the "black sheep". We were not dissapointed. Lovely ambience from the off....great and friendly bar staff, fresh iced water on the bar to help yourself (nice touch) we had a drink outside and although it's a busy road, we sorta forgot where we were......Our server JOE took our food orders but we wanted to eat inside, nothing was too much trouble here at "The Kennington". Joe was attentive, on point, quick, and a pleasure to talk to. My wife works in catering, she's a fantastic cook and invariably she always moans about "something"......nothing to moan about here people !!!!!!......we both had the steak bavatt......delicious .she's also a clean freak......toilets are spotless and she pointed out that despite it being situated on a busy road, the windows were gleaming. Theres a lovely little area at the back called "The Snug" where you can do exactly as the name suggests...board games available (so old school) we loved it !!!!!!..........what more can i say,......all the team at "The Kennington" .....thankyou for the food, the service, the ambience.......and thankyou for being a dog friendly establishment......we will be bringing "Sugar" next week to meet the oh so adorable "Dolly"
p.s. spread the word because this place is too...
Read moreI am gluten intolerant and have been to this pub for drinks and food a few times before but unfortunately received a rude email response to letting them know I thought I had been given gluten.
Gluten free options are marked on the menu but I was brought the wrong food (sausage, mash and gravy). So I could eat with the rest of my group and not wait a while longer I asked if they could check with the kitchen if this was GF (there was no menu on the table). The waiter was apologetic and I was told it was GF so ate over half the meal and later in the evening began feel very nauseous and bloated with stomach churning which are symptoms I get from eating gluten. This lasted overnight so I looked at the online menu where all GF options are marked and the dish I was brought is not marked GF.
I emailed the pub to let them know what I thought had happened and received a rude reply. Even if I am mistaken (although both sausages and gravy can contain gluten) or the website menu is not up to date, no one should treat another person with such lack of respect. I’ve attached pictures of the emails for...
