I can not believe it was 3 star hotel. There has been much better 2 star hotels in London.
I have been contacting the hotel for the manager. However every time I call them they say different things, the manager has never been in, hasn't replied.
I will be forced to contact trading standard soon.
I was expecting to have 5 hours sleep good enough for my 3 hours driving. The staff checked me in said I could park and I paid 10 pounds as that was all I had in my waret. They accepted only cash for parking. As my phone was dead I asked them to give me a wake up call at 8. Then I checked in at 4 am, took a shower and went to bed.
After 8 I realised that my body condition had not improved yet, so I called the front desk to ask for another wake up call at 9 AM.
Then the staff told me that I would have to stay awake, as my parking is not valid as I didn't reserve a parking slot when I booked the room.
I asked him so why he couldn't give me a wake up call at 9 am and I had to stay up. He kept saying the same thing, I didn't book for parking and my car was blocking other peoples' cars.
I asked if I could move my car somewhere outside the hotel at the time so I don't have to stay up, he rejected it and said I had to stay up and wait for other people to check out, when they want to move their car I had to move my car and take it back.
I was devastated by that because I had only 3 hours sleep and my body condition was really bad, I clearly needed a rest.
When I was talking about my condition 2 groups of English people came and he immediately stopped talking to me without saying "Sorry" or "Excuse me".
I didn't understand why conversation with me could be interrupted by other customers, which means his priority is English customers.
Being disturbed by 2 groups, I abandoned talking to the rude staff and had breakfast, went back to my room.
At 10AM he called my room saying I needed to move my car. I went down to the parking area.
The European family was waiting for me to move the car. I said "hello" but they ignored. ( So rude!) I moved my car out of the hotel and waited for them in vain, as there was no communication from the family, I left my car outside the hotel.
From my body condition, feeling angry, so sleepy, I lost the key somewhere and had to ask the rude staff for another key.
Then he started talking to me again as there was no English customers, he started arguing with me. He asked why I didn't parked back my car so I said the reason. He said it was only 5 minutes and they were nice family, which are all wrong.
It was 10:15 and it was 15 minutes before checkout time.
I said I want to go back to bed and have a nap for 15 minutes.
He carried on, stopping me from going back to bed.
I just said "I want to sleep!" then slept for 15 minutes and went back to the front.
He demanded the extra 5 pounds I didn't pay for the parking.
I said I want a refund for the parking because I didn't pay for such a bad parking service, there is only 3 parking slots, and my parking is invalid anyway as I didn't book for it.
He insisted I pay 5 pounds and really became nasty about it, he said he would take money from my card.
I said I would write a proper complaint letter and ask for refund.
I also said if I had an accident as a result of not having enough sleep and I died, it was their fault.
Then he said he would call the police for it, which is utterly pointless. I would rather talk to the police about this staff didn't care about a driver's health.
As the result of this, I had to stop at every single petrol station to have a little nap in my car until I recover from my back condition( whenever I turn my body it was hurting, also was hurting whenever I moved my body, which means I could not do any rapid movement.).
It was the worst customer service I have ever had.
Moreover, the room was dreadful.
The bathroom curtain was broken and fell off when I was taking a shower, there was food from previous customer in the drawer, no spoon for my coffee, the basin was broken the...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel - fortunately - for just one night. More than that and I would have asked a refund. Don't know where to start. Feels more like a detention centre than a hotel. Actually, detention centre would probably have newer carpets. Here's a few of the features you might enjoy - Smallest TV I have ever seen in any hotel, anywhere, ever. Located on top of the wardrobe in the room (that is not big enough to swing a cat). But don't fear, you won't be using the TV as the room didnt have a remote in it. I asked for a remote at reception and a guy in a turban handed me a remote which didn't work. When I took it back to reception, he came back again later, this time with two remotes with only one set of batteries. Neither of them worked either, so I gave up trying to watch TV. The carpets throughout are threadbare. Must be at least 20 years old. The room smelled of smoke, and was dirty. The lights on the headboard were broken, and you could activate or de-activate them by banging your head on the headboard (Which was at least funny, for about 5 minutes). This was a double room, but they provided only a single cup for coffee, and no spoon to stir it with. People upstairs were noisy. Windows rattled in the wind and you could hear the sound of aeroplanes and cars in the street. Outside green area out the front of the hotel was totally overgrown with weeds and left a bad first impression. Felt more like a community centre on a council housing estate. The room featured a safe, or at least, the superficial impersonation of a safe. It looked like it once had a control panel, that had probably been removed decades ago. The shower was broken. The wifi password paper had a note on it from management saying that "do not use the internet too much". Seriously. I'm not joking. Can't recommend...
Read moreWe stayed at the Maiden’s Oval for three days and then left to Scotland for three days, came back and stayed for one more day. I read some of the old reviews and to be honest I was a bit worried, but I was enticed to book here because of the very decent price, and its proximity to the Oval tube station that leads you everywhere in London. I was very pleasantly surprised to put it in short. Service was very kind and accommodating. They had an early check in fee that I paid the first time. The second time I came back they were very kind and waived it. The room was modest and relatively clean. Reading the old reviews shows me that management has paid attention to the complaints of previous customers. All carpets are brand new and clean with clean sheets and very comfy beds. The bathrooms and showers and brand new and renovated. When I walked in I could smell the cleaning supplies used in the bathroom meaning it was just cleaned. I could hear the cleaning person vacuuming also which means they vacuum the rooms. When we went to Scotland we paid them a small fee to store our larger bags for three days while we took only carry ons. They were very kind and accommodating. In short for a budget hotel it is pretty good. You get what you pay for and this is worth the funds paid. One major complaint. Elevator is not working and seems like this is a perpetual problem. This is a very big issue if you have mobility issues or have large luggage’s as they have three floors that can be nearly impossible to go up with a big luggage or baby stroller. Aside from that all is good. If you are looking for good breakfast go to Liloos Coffee and Kitchen down the street. Best...
