this place has so many negative reviews, which should be like a big red warning sign. i recently ordered their summer special drink, a strawberry matcha latte. i always buy from japanese specialist matcha places so i know how it should taste. this was the WORST one i’ve ever had. as soon as i started drinking, it was SO THICK, like a MILKSHAKE. this should have the consistency of an iced coffee. why is it so thick i can barely get it through the flimsy paper straw?
i kept getting pieces of straight matcha powder in my mouth, which is like drinking a coffee and getting instant coffee granules in your mouth. they definitely didn’t use the correct tools to make it, which doesn’t really surprise me for a western place. it was so thick, extremely bitter, and practically undrinkable. i paid £4.90 for this abomination so i went home, and salvaged it with more water and sugar because i’m not throwing away a drink in this economy.
not just the abysmal drink that ruined my mood, but my colleagues and i were waiting at the cafe for our manager, as it was heavily raining outside and we sat outside the cafe for shelter where there was PLENTY OF SPACE. i and one of my colleagues bought a drink to justify staying at the cafe for only around 10 or so minutes while we waited for the rain to calm down. despite this, one of the ladies working there (a white european blonde haired lady) felt so incredibly offended by our presence that she told us to move out of the way when two of our colleagues were standing next to our table having a chat so she could get to someone behind us. mind you, this is the OUTDOOR SEATING AREA. instead of taking 2 seconds to go around, she apparently is a BULLDOZER and needs a straight path to go anywhere. if we were truly blocking the area, she could politely ask us to be seated elsewhere but we weren’t, and she still rudely told us, “i can’t get past you to the other customer” with a weird judging look, like… do you really get paid enough to care THIS MUCH?
rudeness aside, when we moved to another area to be seated, she would give us dirty looks whenever she walked past, EVEN THOUGH TWO OF US HAD DRINKS. and because our existence was so incredibly traumatising, she had to inform her colleague of our “awful behaviour”. even though we had already moved. why is a grown woman having a tantrum. it’s really not a big deal. as soon as our manager called us to meet him somewhere else, we left asap.
so tldr; don’t come here because you’ll be a nuisance for existing and western places don’t know how to make eastern...
Read moreThis is a very bad experience. I have a trip today, but the train is off around 17:00, so I wanna to find a cafe to stay and have something to eat. I arrived here around 10:00 and order a cup of coffee. After I finished, the staff was keeping coming and check if everything was fine, I knew they wanted me to order more if I planned to stay longer, thus I order a granola bowel, tbh I was too full to have it, so it cost me like more than 1 hour to finish it. After this, they were still keeping coming and ask me if I could like to order anything else. I said no then they were asked me to leave as there were a lot of customers were queuing downstairs and, if I had nothing to order, I may have to give in my table to them. It was raining outside, and it is very very cold. I already paid my coffee and brunch, I sat on the corner studying without disturbing anyone, but I was still kicked off by their staff. They gave me the bill including the service fee which I was not sure if it’s mandatory as I didn’t see it when I ordered my coffee. I packed my stuff and went downstairs, there was NO ONE queuing at all, PLUS there were still a few tables available. That’s it, I paid my food, I sat there quietly, it’s winter and raining outside, but I was still being “asked” to leave. This is the worst experience that I had in London, or I should say, in this country. I rarely leave a low start comment unless I felt like not being respectful. I will never ever visited there again, and if you are planning to go, think about it carefully. I am very angry and upset about this experience, I am very glad to leave this comment on their every social media so that people could see how they treated...
Read moreHi there, I wanted to share some feedback from my recent visit.
I started my experience on a high note — the weather was lovely, and I enjoyed sitting outside with a great coffee and a slice of carrot cake. The coffee was excellent, and the frosting on the cake was lovely, although the cake itself was a bit dry.
I asked for the Wi-Fi password but was told it was only for indoor guests, which I respected. Later, I decided to stay for lunch and moved upstairs to do some creative work. Despite there being many tables needing clearing, the one I sat at remained untouched for quite a while, and no one came by to take my order. I had to make eye contact to get attention, and even then, there was confusion — the waitress assumed I wanted to pay instead of order. Meanwhile, another guest was promptly offered water and proper service, which I had to specifically ask for.
When the food arrived, the avocado on my toast tasted stale — like it had been sitting out too long. Unfortunately, there wasn’t anyone around upstairs to let know.
Finally, when I was ready to pay, I asked a waiter who said I had to go downstairs to do so. I did — only to find my card declined three times, both via tap and insert. This was really frustrating, especially after the rest of the experience.
All in all, apart from the outdoor atmosphere and coffee, I didn’t feel the service or food quality matched the expectations. I skipped the service charge accordingly.
Just wanted to share this in the hope it helps improve the...
