Osteria due amici — Restaurant in London

This place certainly was worth the short trip to Upminster on bank holiday monday. Although it's been open a while monday this was the first chance we had to visit and I can say now this will not be our last. This Italian restaurant is not a chain which to me is a plus and therefore menu is not just pizza and pasta. This to me makes you feel like your in a Italian restaurant. There's plenty of room in the restaurant and all the seats are nice and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and you could already see from the other diners who came in that they'd built us a good reputation. While we looked at the menu we decided to have a nice cocktail and of course if your in a Italian it has to be an Aperol Spritz . We decided to start with the Osteria sharing plate consisting of Crab Arancini , Calamari , Beef Fillet Carpaccio with Proscuitto & Mozzarella Bruschetta and it was delicious We then moved on to our main courses where we had the Mare Pizza full of Tiger Prawns , Crab Meat & Mussels while I went for the slow roasted Porchetta stuffed & marinated with herbs & spices , Sicilian roast potatoes & green beans simply Italy on a plate It was then time for dessert and there was something I just had to try Italian doughnuts with cinnamon and a sweet musto cotto reduction & a chocolate sauce. We also had the delightful and refreshing Italian Sorbet Well that finished our meal perfectly and after a nice Espresso it was time to head home.
This is a place I would definitely recommend as the food is good and the service is very friendly. I for one will certainly be back so Ciao...

Had bad experience at this place , was told by friends to visit. Upon booking the very friendly and attentive receptionist/waitress told me that she would seat us in window round table with our 3 children . Upon visiting the waiter stated we were not allowed that table as it was as for 6 people rather than 5, which he confirmed with the manager. When we had been seated at back of restaurant we noticed the 5 people (that we gathered later were regulars) were indeed seated at the round table in the front , using the 6th chair for there bags!! I did not kick up a fuss but it amused myself and husband at the time. Then my meal which should of been succulent pork belly was dry so I left it to which the waiter commented on the amount I had eaten and suggested he would tell the chef. The manager asked us for feed back as we was new customers, but never returned to our table as he was busy socializing with friends. The kids weren’t happy as they had starters and mains similar size but also same , garlic bread and pizza with no difference but sauce!!. We spent £160 for five of us... WE all walked out and agreed we would NEVER return. My husband who loves Italian food and has grown up with italian family’s said this is the most disappointing Italian meal...

Amazed at rudeness of Manager! I booked a 6.30pm table with a friend. We felt very rushed by staff from the moment we arrived. We ordered a bottle of wine and a main meal which were lovely and very enjoyable.On finishing our main meal this was cleared and we were given dessert menus, we were then asked several times within the space of a couple of minutes if we wanted a dessert. It was only when the owner stood at our table and clapped his hands loudly demanding our dessert choice did we ask what the rush was. We had been in the restaurant for 1hour 15 mins! He told us that you only get a table for max 2 hours and that we needed to get a move on. They made us feel very uncomfortable and the staff cleared our table completely as soon as we finished our wine. We were amazed at the rudeness of the manager and instead of ordering another drink and dessert we chose to leave.
