Oui Madame — Restaurant in London

If you find yourself on a truly grim date and require an immediate evening rebrand: take yourself to oui Madame at once. It’s so good it will make you forget being taken to WETHERSPOON. I’m not over exaggerating.

The owner, Martin popped in and his passion radiates from Salut! to Oui Madame. The dishes transition with the seasons making every visit refreshing. I would relate the menu ambiance to that of a relaxed modern wine bar that serves elevated intentional plates that play on classics. Days later I am still thinking about the tuna tataki. I also had a Chardonnay so good it altered my dislike towards Chardonnay’s.

Ellen and Conner make it seem as if you are a part investor of this establishment with their excellent service and knowledge of the menu- there was a large family group singing their praises as they left swearing they’d be back thanking Ellen and Conner by name. The attentiveness and care from them is palpable.

We had such a fantastic experience at Oui Madame in Islington! The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was bursting with flavour, and the sharing and large plates were perfectly balanced. We also couldn’t resist ordering two desserts each, and they were just as wonderful as the mains.

The service was equally impressive. Conner was brilliant – so knowledgeable about the wines and gave us excellent recommendations that paired beautifully with our food. Elle also made sure we were really well taken care of, regularly checking in and ensuring our wine and water glasses were always topped up. Together they created such a welcoming and attentive atmosphere that really elevated the whole evening.

I’ve eaten at many places in Islington and, for the level of hospitality and food, Oui Madame far outperforms any restaurant I’ve eaten at in the local area.

Food was really really not impressive… the tastes of different ingredients are simply not married …. They all taste just like by itself and put together on one plate to look nice… tuna was overly salted, beef tartare 2/3 made with rice, seafood was undercooked and cold and tasteless overall…. I am not sure if I was just unlucky that the cook was away on holiday so someone armature came to cover but I was paying almost to the standard of Michelin but getting the taste of somewhere below average. It gives you the very obvious impression that the owner tried to make money out of below average cooking skills in the name of French….
