⭐☆☆☆☆ Overpriced, inflexible, and disappointing service
I’ve been a regular customer at the Leytonstone Pepe’s for a while. I usually order the XL burger or rice box, but this time my brother and I wanted to try something different and go for the family meal. Unfortunately, this visit really made me reconsider coming back.
We asked to remove 1 large chips (£3.39) and 4 peri wings (worth £5.99) in exchange for 2 drinks (around £5 total). It was a simple swap—we weren’t asking for a discount, just a fair exchange. In fact, the drinks were cheaper than what we were removing. Just 3 peri wings cost £6, so 4 wings and chips clearly add up to more than the drinks we requested.
Still, the staff refused to make the change, despite us being regulars. Instead, we were told we could get a 1.5L drink for £3 like as if that was a generous offer and when those drinks normally cost £3.50–£4 anyway. That’s when it became clear: they don’t value loyal customers at all.
What made it worse was realizing how overpriced this location is compared to other Pepe’s branches. The exact same family meal costs just £22.99 in West London, yet it’s more expensive here in East London Leytonstone, which really doesn’t make sense.
Poor customer service and inflated prices like this just aren’t acceptable. Other branches offer better value and better treatment. Won’t be returning here again.

Read morePeri chips? Petty service! I just wanted some chips soaked in sauces, I absolutely love chips drenched in my favourite sauces mayonnaise, ketchup and burger sauce, anyway back to the review as I placed my order I was hit back with "only chips that's it?" as if we were supposed to order a whole meal so I said "okay make that peri peri chips" and I specifically asked for a large because more chips the better right? Waited for longer than we should for chips but maybe that was just me because I was craving them so bad. I should have taken a picture for this but oh my god remember above I mentioned I ordered large but somehow I got this little bag with about a quarter of a large portion! Right, I know I'm about to stereotyped here(forgive me inner feminist), but it is against the law to make a hungry woman angry! I wanted to leave the chips behind and just walk out because I was not about to fight over a bag of chips but I remembered my etiquette so I left quietly. Ate some chips with some watered down garlic because they didn't have much sauces available and you guys know where I am right now? Sitting on my toilet floor, sick to my stomach and throwing up everything after 4 hours. Let me add I'm a vegetarian/no dairy consumer so I don't usually get ill from fast food... and I hadn't eaten much after that "portion of chips" because my stomach was feeling funny I just kept drinking water. Now infront of me there's a bucket filled with my vomit with pieces of peri peri chips floating around. gross right? Well you get the picture now. Avoid this...
Read moreI’ve visited Pepe’s a few times over the years, but I’ve come to the conclusion that they are overcharging customers for what they offer. The quality of the food, especially the chicken, is consistently below average for the price point. On my recent visit, the chicken felt cold in the middle, likely because it had been hastily recooked to keep up with the rush. This is unacceptable and reflects poorly on their standards. For the same cost, you could dine at a much nicer establishment, whether it’s a mainstream restaurant or a local gem.
What’s even more disappointing is that Pepe’s serves their meals on paper plates with plastic cutlery. For the prices they charge, the experience feels cheap and underwhelming. There are plenty of better dining options in Leytonstone that provide far more value and satisfaction.
To make matters worse, I was quite offended by the way they treated delivery staff from food apps during my visit. The lack of respect they showed towards these hardworking individuals was appalling. Just because someone is working a role you may see as “below you” does not excuse such behavior. As a paying customer, I expect a business to demonstrate professionalism and kindness, not only to me but to everyone who interacts with them. It was disheartening to witness, and it left a sour taste in my mouth. Pepe’s should reflect on their behavior and adopt a more respectful and inclusive attitude toward everyone who contributes to...
