Do you think solely the food is enough to rate a pub 5 stars? Hmm it shouldn't be. Let me explain you why.. If a business has a potential to embarrass you next to your loved ones or to ruin your good mood with their disrespectful approach then NO. They don't deserve your stars. We loved Rusty Bike. Wow. Every chance we could we just went to that pub. Fantastic thai food, a gem in Chingford.. A friend of ours was there for the Mothers Day with their 3 year old son for lunch. They ordered their food. They thought they might not have chips because it's a Thai place and they grabbed a pack of chips for their 3 year old from outside. The waiter came to their table and told them angrily that they can't bring food from outside. He tried to take the chips away from a 3 year old toddler's front. He also said that they should have ordered it from the pub. Our friend and her husband apologised and they said that they didn't know they serve chips and of course they ordered one. And it never arrived. So when it was time to go home they went to the same waiter and said the chips never arrived? This gentleman who claims he is also the "manager" refused to give his name when he's been asked and he said Yes your chips never arrived because the money you paid for the chips was a penalty for you (for bringing chips from outside). Our friends explained to the "manager" that this is unacceptable and they won't leave if they don't return their money. Rusty Bike threatened them to call the police.. The police never arrived either... Rusty Bike is now history for 7 of us. All I want from you is to think for a moment.. Always keep in mind that this could happen to you or to someone you love.. Thank you for reading....

We ordered Thai food which was okay to slightly below par depending on the dish, along with two portions of Prawn Tempura Roll at £9.45 per portion, which was advertised as “Prawn tempura, avocado, spicy mayo, and tempura flake topped with teriyaki sauce.” however the rolls were not good.

The rice was so overcooked to the point that there were no discernible grains, making it soggy on the inside with a hard texture on the outside which the bar staff assured me was due to the tempura flakes, although there was no obvious sign of this to us. After a long and protracted semantic debate over the semantics of the product description, along with the definition of up and sideways because I didn’t agree that “flake topped with teriyaki sauce” meant that I should expect that the rice itself should be “topped” with tempura flakes, when the rolls are served with the “flake” on the outer edges.

Regardless of the unhelpful attitude of the staff, the dish was not pleasant to eat as it did not feel like sushi on the palette. We left after being flatly refused a refund because “the kitchen staff wouldn’t allow it” and because “that’s how we serve it”.

I wasn’t expecting Michelin starred food from a pub, however this was a bitterly disappointing culinary experience topped only by the argumentative and stubborn staff. I’ve honestly never experienced such treatment when raising a genuine issue with an...

My party of 7 ordered starters and mains. We ordered a drink separately. When we got back to the table the waitress was serving up starters and a main course. We said we haven’t eaten the starter yet and could she take the main dish away. She didn’t seem happy about doing that but my main would have got cold. After eating our starters the mains arrived all apart from 1 which was the one that they delivered to the table with the starters. Everyone had eaten their mains and I was still waiting for my main course 25 mins after the 6 others were delivered to the table. We asked the waitress but she was saying the meals come from different kitchens. One up and one down. She kept ignoring our table. We asked for the manager and he was so rude and arrogant and kept smirking and said it’s because of both kitchens. Surely the order clearly says starters and mains. I’ve never been in a restaurant where the main dish is delivered first. The staff was not interested at all and we will NEVER go there again. This was a horrible experience especially as we had family with us celebrating my birthday. DO...

First pub i have visited since lockdown started. It was great to finally have a pint for the first time in 18 weeks. I visited with friends on a day out to Epping Forest, which is within walking distance of the pub. All the staff were wearing masks and there were screens separating the tables, although they did not record our contact details which is recommended. The pub offers two different types of food: Thai and sushi. Table service is provided but, if you want to order sushi, you have to go downstairs and order - not sure why. We opted to stick with the Thai food which could be ordered and paid for at the table. I must say i was really impressed with their dishes. My pad Thai was on par with what you would get from a good Thai restaurant and was at a reasonable price. The service we received was good.

Called in on the way through the area. Gave the Japanese food a try not expecting much. Was able to order online from the table. Food arrived and it was delicious, I started eating before I took pictures 🤤

I have been past the Mile End branch for years without going in, so when I saw they had a branch in Chingford, I had to check it out. Located close to Chingford train and bus station with restricted parking on the main and side roads. The venue has a very lively atmosphere with music and sports on lots of TV's dotted around. There are lots of areas/pockets where you can have a more intimate experience with friends. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food came really quickly, was cooked perfectly and I'm definitely going back. There's a wide selection of drinks and food - Thai and Japanese food. There are a few board games available such as Scrabble, Chess, Monopoly etc.
