I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant last night and it was a disaster from beginning to end.
As it was the first time we had ordered from this restaurant (decided to try following the good reviews on trip advisor) we made absolutely certain by speaking to them over the phone that they delivered to our address.
Once we did an order was placed and we were told it would arrive 45 minutes.
Approximately 50 minutes later, my father, (who had placed the order) receives a phone call from the delivery driver to say he cannot find our postcode on his satnav.
My father then proceeded to attempt to explain to him exactly how to get from the restaurant to my house, but the driver said he was new to the area and everything my father tried to explain to help him find us made no sense to him. He said he would use the satnav on his phone and hung up.
20 minutes later when the order hadn’t arrived and there had been no further communication, we phoned the restaurant and they said that they would look into it and call us back.
10 minutes later we received a phone call from the restaurant saying they had had a row with the delivery driver and the manager would be bringing our order within 15 minutes.
My father confirmed with them that the food would not be cold and was told the order was being cooked from fresh. 25 minutes later the order finally turns up with a muffled apology and no offer of a discount.
Upon unpacking the order we find it to be lukewarm at best, with many items being stone cold and all of the food slightly congealed.
There is no way it had been cooked from fresh as promised and I can only assume that it was the original order.
By this point nearly 2 hours had passed and we just wanted to eat so we ended up microwaving the food and most was just about edible but nothing more.
This is the worst experience I have had from a local restaurant and despite all the good reviews I will not be...
Read moreI have never had indian cousine in my life, and The Voujon was the first impression I would receive; it would shape the way I view the indian food expirience forever. I am delighted and glad to say that it set expectations high, not only once but twice as I have returned to this establishment.
The atmosphere is pleasant with a calm and welcoming environment welcoming patrons on the way in.
The kind-hearted and pleasant staff made the expirience for a first timer smoother than butter. Roman in particular is a higlight and a gemstone of a waiter, providing educated and specialised advice for those inexperienced in indian dining. All I had to do is provide guidance on what spice level I'd prefer and he recomended a phenomenon of flavour each time. Even if you don't know what you want, the wait staff is willing to give an ear and guide you on a journey of flavour.
All this talk would be useless if I didn't mention the food. Oh my, where do I begin? The papadoms set the stage; fresh, crispy and flavourfull. Then the mains, as of time of writing this, the meals that I tried, one being a succulant fish and the other a tender chicken served with heart warming rice and a fantastic cheesy spinich (surprisingly, I don't like spinich but this cheesy suprise has pleased even a spinich nay sayer like me), impressed and satisfied my pallet in ways that are indescribable. Then after a glorious expirience like that, the meal is topped off with a serving of fresh orange, cleaning the pallet and preparing it for any other journey you have in store.
I can recommend it higly and am glad to have given this...
Read moreWe booked Voujon through The Fork app after checking the reviews, which seemed promising. It was my mother’s birthday, so we chose it for the occasion.
The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant, with soft background music creating a calm setting. One minor issue: the air conditioning was directed straight at our table, which made my mother uncomfortable. She had to switch seats as it was blowing directly onto her neck.
The food itself was genuinely delicious and nicely presented. Service was polite and suited the venue, though only two waiters were managing the floor during our visit.
Unfortunately, one moment did affect my overall experience. While eating my salad, I bit down on a sharp piece of plastic embedded in the dish. It was a jarring surprise that left me quite unsettled — especially during a special meal with my family, including my brother visiting from abroad. I discreetly placed the plastic fragment on my plate and stepped outside to compose myself. When I returned, the plates had already been cleared, and the plastic was gone. I can’t say whether that was intentional or just routine, but I chose not to escalate the issue out of respect for my family’s evening.
I would normally have raised this with the manager, but I didn’t want to spoil the occasion. That said, I believe it’s important to mention it constructively, in hopes the restaurant reviews its kitchen checks more closely.
Despite this unsettling moment, the overall ambience and quality of food were...
