December 2023 Update: Unfortunately, what was once a great pizzeria is now just okay. Since Luigi the pizzaiolo left a few months ago, the pizzas have fallen far below the standard he set (see my original photos of his pizzas). On a recent visit (the first in three months following a previous bad experience), both pizzas had undercooked dough, with limited corniccione and a thick middle. It appears that the oven is too hot and/or that the new pizzaioli are not doing what is required to turn out high-quality Neopolitan pizzas. The pizzas had too much sauce and the sauce was underseasoned. For what it's worth, I think that £6.50 + service for an Ichnusa is too much and that there are now too many seats upstairs, with too little space between the tables. On the plus side, the lighting has improved. As you'll see from my initial reviews, I was really keen for Sacro Dough to thrive, so it's regrettable to be in a position where I don't think I'll be back.
May 2023 Update: I think I must have had 40-50 pizzas (eating in, takeaway and Deliveroo) over the last 18 months. It really is excellent pizza at a fair price and justifiably popular. Keep up the great work!
Amazingly good pizza, which has been unusually consistent over many visits and deliveries. The manager / occasional pizzaiolo is charming, friendly and highly-skilled. The dining in experience could be a little bit more relaxing with some calmer/quieter music, but that's just a matter of personal taste, really. It's a great addition...
Read moreSacro Dough, a small little Pizzeria on the Finchley road will take your taste buds to Italy. The ambience isn't too bright but not too dull. You have the woodfire oven right in front of you and you can see your pizza being made right in front of you. The team is really kind and welcoming so you feel warm irrespective of the overall vibe of the place.
To start with I order bruschetta which was alright. The orders reach your table quickly and you don't have to keep waiting for long. The veggies and rocket used were fresh and the break was too good. I had to add a bit more seasoning to enhance the flavor. Then, I had on my table Sacro Parmigiana (because I wanted to try aubergine on my pizza). The pizza was really well cooked with some good roasted creamy aubergines and the cheese was too fresh as well. The smoky flavory of the oven, is something I personally love.
Full marks for quality of ingredients, hospitality and service. Also it's good value for money. They have student discount and NHS discount which is around 20% so that's a win-win too. I have to come back to taste other pizzas as I'm sure it won't be disappointing. I would say 4.5/5 stars would be my overall experience at...
Read moreCame here with my parents in the evening today. Honestly not worth the hype, nothing special. They got my dad’s order wrong, I ordered prosciutto pizza and they brought a magarita instead. Then when I told them it was wrong, they took the same pizza and putted cold toppings on top. My dad was not too happy but he was too tired from working all day to complain. I felt bad because I wanted to have a nice dinner and treat my parents. A shame really. We didn’t complain or cause any fuss but I can guarantee we won’t be returning. They also didn’t ask if we wanted dessert, they just shoved the dessert menu in our faces. Lastly, the food bill came with no discounts which i think was inappropriate due to the incorrect order taken. Lost what could have been a loyal regular customer to their restaurant. Not as authentic or good quality as I expected. Prices quite high for the quality, would not return but I wish...
