Palm Beach restaurant has always been my go to place for Srilankan food for about 5 years; (bear with me, I know I’m supposed to be reviewing Sambal’s Kitchen and Diner) the portions of the food served there has always been excellent, as is the pricing and the service by staff. But the problem has always been that the taste and quality of the food, which haven’t always been consistent.
This isn’t the case however with Sambal. Every time I’ve been there, the food has always tasted the same, and that’s a good thing because they taste amazing. There’s so much flavour in all the foods served, the portions are excellent (one portion is enough for two people in some cases), pricing’s excellent, the place itself is always clean, the staff members always provide an excellent service with a warm welcome. But the most important thing of all (to me at least) is that they’ve always been consistent (Palm Beach, if you’re reading this, I still love you guys, your amazing fish tank and even the cheesy Tamil songs you play on your TV’s) in everything they do. Which is why Sambal has become my favourite place go to place. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who has never tried Srilankan food before and would like to dabble, and also to existing consumers of Srilankan food, who are looking for a go to place for just that. If Sambal themselves are reading this, only downside to you is that there’s only one kitchen and diner (as far as I’m aware). And also keep up the good work and don’t...

I recently visited a restaurant that, despite not being busy, offered a disappointing dining experience. Upon arrival, we were seated at a dirty table, and after a few minutes, I had to request the waitress to clean it. Unfortunately, the waitstaff were also quite loud, which added to the overall unpleasant atmosphere.
I ordered the chicken kottu with fried chicken, but the chef refused my request and suggested fried chicken rice instead. It was puzzling, as I couldn't understand why they couldn't simply add the fried chicken to the kottu when the portion sizes seemed similar.
After finishing our starters, we waited over 15 minutes for our main courses. To make matters worse, the staff didn't even clear the table, so we had to deal with empty starter plates while waiting for our food to arrive. This lack of attention to detail really detracted from the overall experience.
In summary, the combination of poor service, unclean tables, and inadequate communication made this visit frustrating. I hope the restaurant can improve its service and address these issues...
Read moreSambal is a Great place to eat Sri Lankan food, I loved their hoppers and Masala dosa and unforgettable Lamprice, and Parata, with Mutton, Fish or Lentil curry Alcohol drinks are limited, I wish they allow guests to bring wine along, but you can always get a Lion Lager. 🍻 l take friends at any time to reconnect with an amazing g cuisine, because Sambla make it so much like at home 🤩🤩⭐️
Great team serve food there always with a smile. Manger guy name I think Pavi, very friendly and welcoming and I asked extra food one day after my big workout and he was happy to put some more on my plate 💪💪
Most staff members are lovely as well, no matter whether you speak Sinhala, Tamil or English, they have same menu, price and friendly attitude, what a great customer service. Tamzi is one of the girls who take fodder orders, always know what I like to drink and for dessert, very personal touch. I definitely want to see more vegetables added on the vegan day like Jackfruit, beetroot curry’s and gotukala sambal for traditional Sri Lankan vegan lunch or dinner
Always recommend the place to...
