Despite informing at the time of booking we had a baby and were bringing a pram when we walked in we were rudely whispered about by the staff and to eyes rolling from the staff and manager. This was for a seating at 18:30.
The manager asked us to move the table mid meal to accommodate extra walkway room for other guests. Which is fine but made us feel unwelcome as could have asked prior to serving our food.
During our meal we had to change our child's nappy despite walking in with a pram and booking in advance with the notification we were bringing a baby, we were not informed that there was no changing facilities meaning we had to change our baby on the toilet floor.
The food itself was delicious but to add to the already unsettled server experience, the manager then told us "don't want to rush you but my next customers are here for this table so if you can wrap it up" despite us patiently waiting for someone to take our dessert order and having to ask ourselves if we can order dessert and our total sesting time only just past 90 minutes.
Overall food was fantastic but the experience and service from the staff made us uneasy and put a real downer on our first experience here.
Advice for the establishment would be to either inform that you don't want children or to cater more respectively for those who do book with...
Read moreI was already a big fan of this restaurant - the tapas is excellent - and was interested to try their Sunday roast. I went on the first day of this new menu and, quite simply, LOVED it! There were a few nibble type starters available - olives, padron peppers, almonds, bread. We had the sourdough bread - this came toasted with an alioli sauce - very tasty! The main course choices were beef, chicken, lamb cutlets or a vegan wellington. We had the chicken and lamb - both were served with roast potatoes, roasted carrots, parsnips, broccoli, yorkshire pudding and gravy. All superbly seasoned and delicious! Good portion size too. We didn’t have desserts, but saw others tucking into cheesecake and churros. Next time! The staff were fantastically welcoming as always! Laura, kept saying words to the effect of “It’s our first day doing this…” - no need to justify anything Laura, you’ve already aced this! Pricing is well pitched - £19 - £21 per person for main course, depending on your choice of meat. Well done Laura, Danny and, of course, the brilliant Spanish chef, Freddy! Already booked to go...
Read moreService was good, staff were friendly but became over friendly which was a bit much. All the food came out within around 10 minutes of ordering, which could be deemed a good thing, however made us question if the food had been freshly cooked. The majority of the food came out luke warm, and all plates came at once (7 dishes total). Traditionally, tapas plates come out as and when they are cooked? The pork belly wasn’t crispy and therefore was rubbery. The calamari tasted as if it had been sitting out as wasn’t hot/crispy. When we raised this issue, staff were short, defensive and rude. They also added two bottles of wine to the bill so make sure to double check (this was removed when we noticed). We were sat at the bar so were constantly getting nudged by people walking past, with our bag being knocked off. It was difficult to relax when we had orders being shouted next to us from the till. Feel as if this should stick to being a drinks only area. It was extremely busy so maybe this had an effect on certain areas, but wouldn’t return...
