AMAZING ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Deliciously authentic food, lovely staff and beautiful atmosphere. Second visit: I am to taking a few stars off because of my previous visit. The staff are so lovely and attentive but unfortunately the food we ordered was not up to the standard of my first visit. The coconut braised beef was so watery, it looked really unappetising. A little more coconut milk wouldn’t hurt, it is in the name of the dish. There were 3 cubes of beef in the entire dish. It felt like they were trying to cut out as many ingredients as possible. This is more subjective, but I also think that lime flavour should come from juice and any lime bits as a garnish, rather than having large chunks of it cooked into the food. We also ordered the chicken, which is aparantly a customer favourite and their star dish. I was really really disappointed. The flavour was not impressive and really more of a colour for show than taste. We left feeling quite disappointed, which is unfortunate because it was a special occasion. We wanted to try something new, but this might have been a better occasion to stick to the dishes we know. The starters were great, I’ll give them that, but the meal was pretty much downhill after the starters were gone.

We’ve been here a few times now; Siam Niyom is definitely our go to Thai place in south London. The food is delicious, authentic and reasonably priced. On top of that the cocktails are great. As a Thai person, I love the decor - it’s modern but warm and makes you think of Thailand. Previously when we were here we had the curries: lamb shank massaman, Khao soi, beef in coconut milk and we loved it but this time given that it’s a rare warm sunny day in March we wanted something tasty but fresh and refreshing so we ordered ourselves a little Isaan feast. We had both types of somtum (Lao and Thai), fried spare ribs and herbal wings and sticky rice to soak up the sauce from the somtum. When I saw that big Thai olive seed in my somtum, I knew I was going to be very satisfied with my meal and indeed I was! Thai olive is one of the things that make somtum Lao legit; it just becomes all the more delicious and is rare in London. If you like a fresh but umami packed salad, have the somtum Lao here and treat yourself to a nice cold beer on the side. As for service, the people here are always so friendly and welcoming which makes coming to this place feel like a brief visit to Thailand.

Booked a table for 5:45pm and turned up to find others outside a locked door who’d been waiting for their booking since 5pm, with a sign saying it’s closed till 5:30. Eventually a waitress turned up and said they weren’t going to open till 6:30pm. 3 tables were just stood outside with no information and we only booked and confirmed by phone yesterday, and had a reminder come through at 4 o clock today to tell us to be ontime! Waitress said the staff had been at a showcase event elsewhere and wouldn’t be back for another hour. Utterly ridiculous as we had driven 2 hours and needed dinner before a show nearby so can’t wait an hour for the staff to turn up for the apparent 20% off this waitress was offering. Apparently the food is good but the service is laughably bad! (Just walked past again at 7pm after eating elsewhere and it’s still closed! What a joke!)

Siam Niyom is an authentic Thai restaurant located at 347 Norwood Road in West Norwood/Tulse Hill, London SE27 9BQ1. This family-run establishment has gained recognition as one of London's hidden gems for authentic Thai cuisine, particularly specializing in Northeastern Thai (Isan) dishes6].

The restaurant is described as having "angels dancing on your tastebuds" by one reviewer, highlighting the complex variety of flavors and spices in their dishes[2]. Many customers note that it's worth traveling to specifically, not just convenient for locals[5].

we visited Sam Niyom for my Dads birthday. My first impressions were about how lovely the decor is, really trendy and yet extremely comfortable. my orst lovely surprise was that the house white wine is a sauvignon blanc, being a sauvignon drinker this was a wonderful surprise as usually I have to pay a fortune. we looked at the menu and couldn't decide what starters as they all sounded wonderful so we got a selection between the 6 of us and every single one was stunning, I have to give a special shout out for the dry ribs and chicken and nut dumplings (you must try both if you go) we asked for recommendations for the main from the very helpful and attentive staff, told them we would be sharing all the dishes and could they stagger the arrival to 1 or 2 dishes a time, we had some beautiful cold salads, in particular I enjoyed the seafood glass noodle salad, then some of the lamb chops that were on special which were so succulent and tasty, like nothing I had tried before, a lamb and beef curry and a Padthai (the nicest padthai i have ever had. I coul do.on and on but I will sum up that this was quite simly the best thai food I have had, accompanied by wonderful, welcoming and helpful service by all staff (even the chef came to see if we enjoyed our meal) in a beautiful restaraunt. they were telling us that they will be extending into the garden for next summer and I will most certainly be going to enjoy one of their beautiful and fragrent Thai salads alfresco come the hot summer nights. this restaraunt is an absolute must!! thank you very much to the whole team from Donna,Mark and the rest...

Firstly, the food was ok (not amazing). But customer service is mediocre. For starters, they brought the wrong soup (with prawns, when the whole table had ordered veggie), but did give us the option to keep that "on the house" if we wanted. The second attempt of serving our soup was exactly the same: wrong soup. This time we did not touch it and gave it back. Third time they got it right, but unfortunately that the Mushroom Tom Yum was bland and tasteless compared to the prawn version. For mains I had ordered "Vegetable and Tofu Kapao", and the waiter asked me if I wanted rice with it, which I declined (beware, you have to order rice with all dishes separately). When my dish arrived, it was mainly needles with a few vegetables. I asked the waiter whether that is what I ordered and they said yes, and that the word for "noodles" was part of the name of my dish on the menu. I don't speak Thai, so did not argue much more, only asked why they had recommended I ordered rice with it then? When the bill arrived, I realised that indeed I had been given the wrong dish (which I'd not eaten as I wanted vegetables, not noodles), but I did not raise the issue again. We also were told that the Early Bird Set Menu couldn't be applied, although we ate exactly within the time frame it was offered. We had been charged an extra drink (which we asked to get removed from the bill). And to add insult, there was a 10% service charge automatically added. This restaurant charging far too much money for not outstanding food and a really less than good service. Sorry,...
