Spicy Noodle Cafe London — Restaurant in London

I understand the price is very competitive and the food was actually tasty but this café hygiene level is far off the minimum acceptable standards! Price is not everything! If the "front of house" is so dirty, greasy, dusty as if cleanings have never been done, how would the kitchen be? How can these people ensure food and hygiene? I wonder when they got 4 stars and if any control has been passed recently. The service was good, the waitress was efficient and friendly. Food was good in taste. However, this café is really too far off the hygiene standards. The pictures attached speak loudly about it. It saddens me to leave such a review but I do hope it will be a constructive feedback for a café that could be able to provide the right standards for a great food offer...

Spicy Noodle Cafe is essentially a Chinese twist on the greasy-spoon cafe, serving Chinese dishes, English breakfasts, sandwiches, omelettes, and even roast lamb and roast chicken meals. Incredible!

Despite the consistently good reviews here, we found the food to be rather underwhelming. The King Prawn Fried Rice was far too salty, while the Singapore Fried Noodles was just a bit forgettable. Quite surprising considering most Chinese takeaways ace both those dishes.

That said I’m keen to come back and give them another chance to impress, since they have such an incredibly wide menu and great reputation.

Edit: my partner went back and got food poisoning, so perhaps I won’t return after all.

Being chinese myself I have struggled to find an adequate chinese takeaway in Balham. Spicy Noodle Cafe is very good and much better compared to the others around the area. I've ordered a few times now and the chinese food is decent enough. Whenever I've gone to order food, it always seems busy, a lot of people order the western dishes which is also nice. The owner seems quite friendly although I have not been there enough to be considered a regular yet so don't get much of a conversation.
