SUPER COD SW20 — Restaurant in London

Stopped by there today as wanted a treat after getting my second covid vaccination. Usually loyal customers of Vintage Fish which is excellent but they are closed Mondays. This was incredible. The interior is beautiful and spotless. Great style and design and such friendly people. They began business in February and if you don't make this your regular chippie you are missing out. The batter is as light as a feather and so crisp. The chips are the best I've had in London and I've lived here over 20 years. The quality is high and the portions huge. We had cod bites, battered sausage, chips, curry sauce, mushy peas and a giant whale of a plaice for just over £21. The peas were so creamy fresh and the curry sauce classic chip shop sauce. Such great value. No more vintage fish for us. This is even better! Oh and they do gluten free on Mondays....

I cannot describe how happy I am that new management have taken over here. If I could give more stars, I would! We have been longing for a decent chip shop local to us. I ordered two large chips, a jumbo saveloy, a quarter pounder with everything and curry sauce expecting to pay £20-£25 but didn't have to pay nowhere near that much! I was so surprised! And the food was delicious! Cooked fresh, chips fat and freshly cooked. And you can tell it was large chips aswell! Great sized portions! My son is a saveloy fan and he hasn't been able to find a good saveloy until now! And the burgers are juicy and beautifully put together! I took takeaway.

Food is great. Chips are crispy and all food was fried fresh in front of me. Taste and quality was great. Portion size is not as huge as some chippies but is reasonable per person which reduces waste. Quality over quantity!

Unfortunately, the service is lack lustre. Staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. No ambience. No greeting, no recommendation or smile which I am used to getting in another local chippy in Raynes Park. I think the only words I heard whilst in there was the price before tapping my card and “salt and vinegar?” - that is disappointing and if improved with some motivated staff would easily make this one of/if not the best...
