We reserved a table for last Saturday night..when we got in we had to wait till a waitress who was free asked an older waiter to assist..I told him my name twice. We were seated and ordered drinks a while after. This same waiter forgot our drinks. A waitress who thought we hadn't ordered and asked if I was ready ( after 20 mins waiting) then went to investigate. I clearly heard her tell him he hadn't rung the order through the till. There was some discussion.. all in my sight and then he came and asked what our drinks weree wanting to clarify I'd asked for a Diet Coke when it was a Rose!?!?! I told him twice. He never apologised. Then he got his notepad to write down our food order! I had to remind him he'd taken our order when we'd originally told him our drinks! What a shambles! Again no apology from him. My partner asked him if our meals came with bread, he said yes. Then we got our starter which was perfect.. however he cleared the plates so fast and said "look I'm getting the food quick!" As if that made up for his errors earlier. The main (we both had the same) was literally a tomato soup with pieces of boiled chicken and a small portion of rice on the side. This is badly described in the menu as "chicken skewers with tomato." No bread arrived! Does this man not listen or what? He goes up and down grumbling very audibly and getting distracted chatting to other staff I appreciate it was busy but his attitude was rude... never said sorry and the drinks were so late they should've been taken off the bill. At some point later my partner asked a younger waiter for the dessert menu.. I saw him pick it up then start chatting to the older man and another staff member .. Again another delay. He told our waiter to give us the menu but of course he didn't listen and put it back. The younger guy looked at me and I shrugged my shoulders as if to to question what was going on so I heard him ask pur waiter why he didn’t pass the menu on. Our waiter -who thinks he's above everything- said we didn't want it (!?!?!)and by this point my partner was fuming and asked for the bill. He never wants to return. I heard another man 2 tables from us also complaining about said waiter. We left without any apology. This man is not polite either if he can't hear something he should say "sorry ?"or "excuse me ?" Instead of a...
Read moreOverall Comments Extremely enjoyable dining experience, all round high hitter with great food, good atmosphere, very well presented venue and personable professional service. One of our favourite Turkish resturants in the area for a number of years.
Venue: 5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Food: 5/5 | Location: 3.5/5 | Cost: ££
Venue & Atmosphere: 5/5 Very well presented, exceptionally clean with a lot of space since their expansion. Sleek interior design and a great atmosphere, great for larger group outings as a lot of table space and well laid out so people are not on top of each other but also ideal for a two personal romantic night out. Always busy so a lively buzz at all times we've been.
Service: 4/5 Despite always being very busy and full, the staff are friendly, quick to attend and are happy to make things a bit more personal with recommendations if help is needed. Before their expansion the experience was a little more personable but the overall standard hasn't dropped despite now being twice as large and having twice as many people to attend to.
Food & Drink: 5/5 Great variety, good portion sizes and tasty flavours. It's an all round winner on choice and quality. A few items have been removed from the menu over the last few years which is sad to see as they were excellent, but you won't be dissapointed with the current selection as everything is well worth ordering. A personal favourite is their Iskender!
Location & Travel: 3.5/5 Easy to find location on the North Cheam crossroad parade, local parking available but not always the easiest to get a space if coming at peak times. No local train station so by foot or car are the two access options.
Cost: ££ Well priced for the service, food and experience provided. Always satisfied and we feel they offer good...
Read moreAverage restaurant which is rated highly purely as South London is a wasteland for Turkish food. The service reflects this, a largely indifferent attitude as they know your options are limited.
We arrived for a booking of 3 - me and my two elderly parents. The waiter tried sitting us on a table for 6 right next to the door. Wanting to avoid the cold breeze, we asked to be sat elsewhere and he responded “well someone has to sit there”. Indeed they do - perhaps a table of 6 people?
The waiter convinced my mother to order the aubergine based dished. He described it to her by making an aubergine shape with his hands. When it came (it took an hour to arrive) it was baba ghanoush (aubergine puree) which wasn’t what he had described. When we raised this, he insisted that in Turkey that is what aubergine is. Unfortunately for him, we know Turkish cuisine very well and know this to be untrue. He tried to dissuade us from having a different dish by insisting it would take 30 minutes to arrive. We persisted and it came within 10-15.
Finally, when he gave us the bill it was incorrect. Before we could raise the issue, he had clearly spotted us examining the bill and came and gave us a new bill. He knew it was incorrect before we raised it which raises questions on why he gave it to us in the first place.
This service is sad as the food itself is a 3/5 and of a good enough standard for anyone who lives locally, albeit a bit too oily at times.
Unfortunately competitors in the area are lacking hence how busy the place is. If only locals had a taste of what existed in North London then I suspect the service would be much better as they know very well they wouldn’t survive with this type...
