Based on the amazing reviews and friends’ recommendations we chose this place for our lunch. We all love mediterranean food and seafood/fish. The squid starter was nice just a bit spicy for our son, we wondered why as there was no chilli or cayenne mentioned on the menu only pepper and paprika so we did not think it will be spicy. Bread and dips starter was OK. The best thing on the plate was garlic and herb oil that was superb but the hummus was a bit grainy and not a lot of flavour and whipped feta was a bit solid not very spreadable or dippable. The worst thing on the plate we all agreed was the bread… toasted baguette but only one side… found that very strange. Would have loved some fresh baked sourdough baguette instead or lightly grilled flat bread. My husband ordered mushroom risotto that came undercooked you could feel the crunch of the rice in the middle they were very kind and cook it more for him but he did not enjoy it. The portion was massive. I had seafood linguine that is one of my favourite dishes but was very disappointed. The seafood was OK but there was just too much pasta on the plate barely covered in sauce that had zero taste and no seasoning. The chef also put chillies which were not mentioned on the menu… my son could not eat that pasta either as was too spicy. That dish is £22 and was the worst and most expensive seafood linguine I have ever eaten. The service was good, the young man was very kind and helpful and apologetic and thank you to the European waitress she was great too. I think chef needs to know his menu better and get some training in Mediterranean food as clearly he is not from that part of world… we will not be...

We booked this at the last minute, never been before. The staff were lovely, the only reason i marked a 4 is that they need to be a little more aware when the customer needs something, but still really good. The food exceeded my expectations. The four of us mostly had different dishes and had three courses. All were cooked really well with quality ingredients. Starter scallops good, i was sceptical about the Asian sticky beef but it was delicious. The seafood platter was excellent, so was the cod. I had the cote de Boeuf, which was really tasty. I would have preferred it a little thicker and paid a bit more. Desserts are not my thing but all four were good. Prices very reasonable, exceptional value. The decor is nice a little ordinary. We will be...

How have a lived in hornchurch this long and not been to The Aviary before??? So first visit for me last night for a celebratory meal with the better half. ..the cocktails were fantastic, and a great pre cursor to what was a fabulous meal. I had the scallops in parma ham starter, whilst the wife enjoyed the very flavoursome croquettes. Moving on to our mains, the waitress advised that there was a few changes to the menu and that chateaubriand had been added. I didn't need telling twice so that became our main, with a side of truffle fries, and a complimentary bottle of vino. Panna cotta for dessert left us both brimmed. All in all a very nice evening and will definitely return to sample some of the many other...

I took my partner there for a birthday meal, based on reviews. When we arrived there was no one to greet us which was a slight negative but when the server eventually seated us I mentioned that it was my partners birthday and she came back with a card and a glass of sparkling wine which was a nice touch. I ordered the mussels from the set menu. Large portion and absolutely delicious. My partner loved her Soup. The main courses were tasty and portions very large. My partner couldn’t manage all her chicken so I had to help out! Nice dessert and great attention to allergies. The Server was exceptionally attentive and friendly. All in all a lovely experience and we will definitely go back. Great value for money as well.
