Very upsetting experience!
Having just moved to the area and literally living less than a minute walk from the pub, we were really looking forward to what we thought was going to be the first of many happy memories with the pub in our local community. Sadly, our whole experience felt like a nightmare.
On arrival tonight at 6pm we were told our 2 year old would have to leave at 7pm. We said we completely understood and asked if we could still order food. We were told we could.
Whilst my partner was looking at the menu I went to the bar to order our drinks. I waited at the bar and when it was my turn, the male bartender with white dyed hair turned away. A black male bartender then stood in his way, pointed at me, laughed and loudly stated ‘you go serve him’. The guy with white hair then said “no”, squeezed by him and proceeded to leave the bar and then walk up and down the other side of the bar holding a empty glass whilst I continued to wait. The other male bartender also turned around and walked away. I waited a good few minutes until a polite female bartender who was serving someone else then served me.
We then ordered food and an Australian male brought the starter food out to us. This was about 6:30pm and he said whilst putting the food down ‘children need to be out by 7’. Again, I said I understood.
The main food came out at 6:55pm, a black male member of staff brought the food to our table and on putting the food down said ‘no children are allowed after 7’. For the third time, we said we understood but could we quickly try and finish our food? He just shrugged and walked away.
A couple of minutes later the Australian male member of staff came back and said “I told you children need to leave at 7pm, not 7:30”. We said “we didn’t say anything about 7:30?” He then walked away.
We tried to eat as quick as we could and left the pub.
We are genuinely upset as we will be walking past the pub on a daily basis and really thought this would be a great way for our family to be involved with the local community.
If the manager would like to investigate and provide an explanation with regards to the 2 male bartenders; please check the cctv. I was wearing a pink t-shirt, white short and black flip flops and would appreciate an...
Read moreI just had an absolutely disgusting experience at this pub. After not knowing knocking over or accidentally knocking over someone’s drink, myself and friend apologised to the person who’s drink it was and carried on to take a seat in the garden area. A few minutes later we were aggressively approached by a member of staff who plain faced lied that we knocked over a drink, which landed all over her bag, made a joke and walked off. When we tried to explain she cut us off and she only seemed to be worried about the fact that the drink had fallen on her bag. After a while I went to get another drink and they refused to serve me. I think this is absolutely outlandish behaviour. No bad words were exchanged between ourselves or the customers whose drink had been spilt. Yet they decided to not serve us because we did not apologise to the bar lady because the drink fell on her bag. When we tried to explain this on leaving she continued to say we did not apologise to her for spilling the drink on her bag. It seemed less about the drink rather she was annoyed that it had fallen on her bag. When my friend confronted her, because every time she had been there this particular bar lady had an issue with her the Australian be tender put hands on her. The manager came out and instead of listening and trying to understand he took his staffs side and told us to leave. We have been to this pub and have never felt so disgusted by the behaviour. The bar lady thought it was okay for her to speak to us in such a manner in front of all the other people in the bar. The people sitting next to us even agreed her tone and wording was unacceptable. The staff seemed to think by serving us they were doing us a favour. Absolutely...
Read moreMy friend and I booked weeks ago for Friday 10 September. Three girls/young women were serving at the bar. We sat down at our table and tried to order. We couldn’t work out the app - not sure if it was connection. We asked for some help but told to use the app. We gave up in the end went to the bar to ask. One of the girls seemed to be flitting around giving us no attention nor help us, rather, just smiling (not at us, but looking around). I actually made a comment but she didn’t change her behaviour, nor apologise. I’m glad we didn’t spend the now (over-priced) £15.99 for a Thai curry (much more expensive than when I last went and, IMHO, reflects West End prices, which is relevant to their high operating costs, unlike the Office which I tried to buy years ago for 60k - never heard back after chasing for weeks. Probably, I suspect, because I was a woman. And no I’m not joking, and yes, I do specialise in...
