So my bestie decided to surprise me with a birthday dinner, and she had read about this place online, so thought lets try it out. (And she knows I only eat fish) We arrived and was greeted by a young lady, she asked if we had a reservation, yes we did, she seemed very insistent to see it (like maybe we had come to the wrong place), to the point that another older lady then came and asked if we where okay. We said we're fine, my bestie then gave the young lady her surname (because again she was very insistent about the reservation). My friend showed her on her phone whilst saying her surname, the young lady walked away repeating the very English surname twice.... Found that a little off putting... Anyway we where seated, and was waiting on by Tammy... she funny and make the dining experience fun Starting with a glass of wine for me and a coke for bestie The menu is fish happy, there was steak that you can order however it is fish heaven, there are over 6 different types of fish you order including Sword, skate, Halibut, seabass. Sides include mash, salad and chips There where both hot and cold starters... I has halloumi with bread and Calamari, bestie had oysters.... Both arrive and where wonderfully presented, for main I had the halibut with mashed, it arrived with a salad and risotto. Bestie ordered middle skate mashed, it also arrived with a salad and risotto. Again wonderfully presented and tasted just as nice. They have live music on a Saturday night, though we left before the lady started to sing (gutted). Though the music played in the background was very soft and mellow, I like it Tammy again took very good care of us engaging in conversation, I ended squeezing some mint ice - cream for desert and leaving very full and satisficed, Oh what you don't finish you can take home with you.. brilliant!! Despite the greeting at the beginning, I really enjoy this restaurant and the food, it was not long to wait between courses. Regarding tipping, we wanted to tip Tammy personally, when we asked her if we could, she said that it all goes into one pot.... I would come back again most defiantly, I think the young lady that greets needs to be a little more open minded to the type of people that may comes through the door... As the whole time we where there, i did notice a certain type of demographic... did not bother us at all, so it should not bother them. Tammy keep up the good work and kiss the...
Read moreWe decided to try captain Tom for valentines day lunch after seeing it recently opened. We have a little baby so we haven't been able to go far to dine so we decided to try our new local. The venue is a fish and chip shop to the front with a restaurant to the rear. It is nicely decorated and has a nice variety of fish on the menu. We decided to go for the octopus to start which was very tasty and the lobster sharing dish. Me and my husband throughly enjoy seafood and eat in many places around the world. We usually like to start by ordering some nice bread and butter/olive oil and olives to start, unfortunately this was missing off the menu, we mentioned it to the waiter and the chef made a special effort for us and organised some bread for us with a beautiful thyme infused olive oil. This was a lovely touch. Although it is a fish restaurant it is nice to have light starters rather than fish on fish but we are not critising. We were given a complimentary fish cake on arrival I'm not usually a fan of fish cakes but this was really nice light and accompanied with a lovely sauce. You could tell it was freshly made. The lobster was fresh and was nicely marinated. It was served with a lobster bisque, pasta , avocado salad, calamari and mussels . We throughly enjoyed each dish the marination was great, the fish was very fresh and each dish was brilliant in their own merit. This is not a criticism but the only thing we would mentioned are with regards to the accompanying dishes. Each one is great but the only recommendation I would make is that it would be nice to have the lobster served with some chips or daupinois/saute potatoes and have something green on the side either some nice green beans or salad. Other than this we are looking forward to coming back to this restaurant once it is a little more settled and try more of the menu. The staff were lovely , the food was great, looking forward to seeing you...
Read moreAbsolutely dreadful!!!! Tried this restaurant when it first opened and I should have cut my loses on that first occasion when we were made to wait 1 hour 40 minutes with no food and they tried to charge us for drinks we hadnât ordered.
When ordering a take away delivery today, they failed to include something to my order so I called them and the abuse from one of their female workers was astounding!! TELLING me she had included it and not even giving me an opportunity to speakâŠblaming the driver and assuring me it was added! As if Iâd go to the trouble of googling the number and calling them if it had been included!
Whatever happened to customer service?? For the sake of a returning customer and reputational damage, surely there should have been some kind of understanding.
Once bitten, twice shyâŠsorry, you donât get a third chance and this is from a local resident who will never use your restaurant again or ever recommend it to anyone within a 3 mile radius!
Update: Since posting this review, the owner in fact DID call and offered for me to âview their cctv with them putting the item in my bagâ but at NO point whatsoever did she offer a complimentary meal but was more concerned with my review on their site. I do not care if you added the item, it wasnât here when the food arrived and all you managed to do was pass the buck to âDeliverooâ and told me to take it up with them!!! By lying to your existing customers isnât going to do you any favoursâŠ.maybe If you DID offer a complimentary good will gesture, I wouldnât be sitting here updating my earlier review calling you out on a bare face lie!!!
I donât want my money back at all, I donât ever expect a re order of the missing item, but customer service is vital in your industry as like I said before - word of mouth brings you the returning clientele, lying to...
