Absolutely Fudging Fantastic Place My wife and I have been here a few times now and it’s usually great service and food every time. However we usually book in advance. Today we didn’t We just rocked up, we spoke to a lady Amily I believe she said her name was blonde female with glasses , she seemed to be a manager however as all of the staff were extremely helpful and professional it was difficult to tell. She said it would be around 30-60 min wait as they had bookings Many of the tables were empty which was a little frustrating, However we had seen her screen was full of bookings. After 40 mins my wife and I decided that we would leave as didn’t want to stay. Just as my wife and I were talking about leaving a table became available. We were very pleased as the food is always amazing and worth the wait. My wife had the vegetarian wellington and I had the roast beef As I have dietary issues they changed my meal to suit. The beef was extremely tender and the potatoes were full of flavour They make their own mint sauce which was divine! More mint than vinegar 😋😁 My wife loved her meal too. I’d have to say I wasn’t going to bother with a review. However it needs to be noted. As a customer seeing empty tables-it’s very frustrating. That said these guys were booked up and customers just took their time to arrive and sometimes it’s best to wait to enjoy the venue for the ambience, character and warmth. Before sitting down for the meal. It’s truly a wonderful experience And I’d say well worth the wait. Anyway you won’t get bored at the bar plenty of choice of drinks and entertaining staff members.

Came here for a late dinner on a Friday night after reading the great reviews. The restaurant was so beautiful and cozy. We had a drink at the bar whilst we were waited for our table to be prepared, and our drinks were delivered to our table with some delay. The ice cubes in my margarita were small and started melting into the drink but it was nice enough. We were told we could order our wine once we finished our cocktail but unfortunately nobody returned to take any more drink orders. We ordered the fried chicken and bread with butter starter which were very nice and just the right size. The tomahawk steak sharer arrived at our table cold, along with cold mashed potatoes and scorching fries; there was clearly a timing issue. At this point we tried to order a glass of wine from the server. When we were nearly finished eating we were told the wine was unavailable and asked to order another which arrived once we were finished. The servers were quick to notice the issue and did apologise and removed it from our final bill along with service. Overall, the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing, but there was a service issue that ended up ruining the experience and the food. Update: I was personally contacted by the restaurant and invited to return with food at a generous 50% discount. Again, they apologized for the disorganization.

Amazing evening; Disclaimer - my partner & I have been to The Pigs Head many times; without any doubt it is our favourite gastro pub in UK let alone Clapham so for my best friends pre- birthday meal I decided where better to take him for a treat. Warmly welcomed by Armelle, the manager, who, together with her team, made sure we were well looked after all evening. Staff attentive and friendly and menu choices, as ever, very varied and interesting. We shared 2 starters (scotch egg and the amazing fried checked in earl grey and treacle) hit the mark - amazing ! We both went for the duck breast for mains with a selection of veg to share. My duck was quite right but my friend really enjoyed his. Armelle took care of the situation on very professionally and discretely and it really dint spoil our evening at all. All established have a rare miss ball and it is how it is handled that makes the difference and his is where The Pigs Head excel - top drawer customer service ! Puddings of Crumble for me and sticky toffee pudding for my friend went down a treat ! We enjoyed some wonderful wine and headed to the bar for cocktails chatting with the bar staff - what a great team ! Friendly, fun and great mixologists - perfect mix ! Cant wait to go back - thank you Jack and Armelle - you both really are The Best !

So my friend and I decided on an impromptu get together on Saturday afternoon. We wanted somewhere nice to go for food in the Clapham area when we stumbled across the menu for the Pigs Head which had great reviews and looked lovely. We also were particularly impressed with the sustainability aspect.

It started off well. I ordered a grapefruit negroni which was a triumph. My friend arrived and he had a margarita on the rocks which was also excellent. Our table was booked for 3.30pm. We were having a general catch up and so weren't in a hurry to order.

The waitress then came over and said we must order our food by 4pm and gave no explanation as to why! They are open all day and people came in after us and ordered food so it was baffling but we were rushed into making decisions.

She did tell us she was new and she had no clue about the wine list. The lovely Manager did assist us in the end with a great choice but we were just not very happy about being rushed along as we had planned on a long, leisurely lunch. Also when we questioned about food choices my friend was told the steak was chewy.... I wouldn't recommend that as a way to sell a dish but as it transpired she was right which was disappointing as it wasn't cheap and also it wasn't a very large portion. The bill for two was £176 which isn't cheap and we only had two courses.

The meatballs were lovely but lets face it not reinventing the wheel and the scotch egg was perfectly acceptable.

We would have stayed and had another bottle of wine but really felt that they wanted us to leave in spite of there being many empty tables and we were never told why we had to order by 4pm.

The ambience is lovely but I think to leave a new waitress pretty much looking after front of house was a mistake. We both work in hospitality so just some pointers to make things better moving forward as there were some great bits. But the one thing I hate more than anything is being rushed.

One more positive. ...

So disappointing!!! I was looking forward to eat at this place and it was one of the most disappointing experiences I had eating out. We were acknowledged promptly even though we had no reservation. So it started well… but that was it. Such a lengthy time to take our order and then starters took nearly half n hour to arrive. We’ve mentioned that we were sharing starters but no side plates were given. To get someone’s attention was impossible so we just ignored this and try to enjoy our starters (By the way, serving a terrine without bread doesn’t seem a great idea). After starters we waited one hour for the Roasts. I understand if the venue is busy although not seeing a server during that hour is appalling. Either to apologise for the delay or to ask if we need more drinks. Food arrived after a long wait and no sauces were offered. When trying to get someone’s attention by raising our hands in the air we were simply ignored. At the end of the meal one server came to check on our food. If there was something wrong with the food it would be too late to change it as we could not wait another hour for another plate. After asking for the bill we were offered desserts by another member of staff. Communication isn’t definitely a thing in this place. The waiter who’d ignored us apologised and said he’d remove the service charge after he mentioned our experience with the manager. Working in the industry myself I understand you can have a bad day, but saying that they would take the service charge off - something we would ask to do anyway- simply isn’t good enough. Good roast potatoes, amazing cauliflower cheese, but the whole experience is nowhere near being worth the price or the...
