I fancied a roast dinner today So I’d give the Rose and Crown a try What a big mistake that was Walked into the bar Asked The barman Do I order at the bar or do I go and sit down? He said, go and sit down somebody will serve you Somebody come up to me Said do I have a reservation? I said no She walked off did not come back and I wait another 10 minutes Somebody else come up Table for two or one I said one She walked away Then a man waiter Come up to me Do you have a reservation? When there’s seven seats empty and inside the bar is empty I said no, I don’t He looked at the tablet in his hand Then 4 People sitting at a table He went over to them Serve them I walked out He didn’t ask me what I wanted to order And didn’t even say Whether they were fully booked or not Totally unacceptable customer service When Surely easily had the tablet in his hand He should’ve been able to tell me There and then, if there was Any seats And obviously, with a pub being virtually empty And outside there was about Nine seats empty This is 2:30pm in the afternoon I’ve never been in a pub Where they ask Do you have a reservation? It’s not a hotel And then for me to chat to Three members of staff Still not even get served Or even know whether you’re fully booked or not Which obviously I don’t think you are So I decided to go to Wetherspoons Got served straight away Food was excellent No mess around No nonsense about you need to have a reservation What a complete and utter joke of a pub With many pubs closing down going bankrupt I’m sure you’ll probably be the next one The way you treat your new customers If anybody reading this find somewhere else in Clapham Common Because this place has no customer service And doesn’t know how to treat new customers This is why if there was zero stars, I would definitely give you zero stars I will post online every were lets other know to avoid the rose and crown if like great service From...

Went to this pub on Saturday 11 December 2021 - the food and service was underwhelming. The staff didn’t charge service this night, quite rightly so but that unfortunately did not make up for the overall experience. I am conscious it appeared that they were short on staff on this night (so I do empathise and actually I felt sorry for the staff run off their feet - however this is where they should have taken control and turn customers away). Aside from being short staffed, which led to basically no service, there were two other issues: 1) food quality - the food was poorly put together and personally I had to go home to vomit (note I did not have any alcohol), 2) noise - it was extremely loud with having jam packed to capacity people to dine and drink on one floor (they should have used their upstairs dining area to allow customers who were there to dine to be separated so those people could have a conversation at least - and if that is not possible, then they should have recognised that as they are short staffed, the consequence should have been to turn customers away rather than being out of control). It felt uncomfortable during COVID times with the highly contagious omni variant. Note that as a bar only, my review would not have been so negative (I.e. I would have given two stars) - however they mixed dining customers with rowdy bar customers in a confined space to what felt like beyond the capacity of the room which has led to a disappointing experience. We stayed to dine to give the pub a chance but personally if I were to come across something like this again, I would have just left (which is a bit harder/annoying to do when your group is more than 2-3 people). As I said, I really empathise with the staff who I do think worked hard to do what they could but given how busy it got, it’s not fair on the staff either as they were...

Title: A Delightful Brunch Experience at The Rose & Crown in Clapham Old Town

We were thrilled to visit The Rose & Crown in Clapham Old Town after hearing a rave review from the popular London food blogger, Eating With Todd. Our brunch experience exceeded expectations, leaving us with a lasting impression of exceptional flavors and warm hospitality.

The menu offered a tempting array of dishes, and we couldn't resist trying the Hash Browns & Sticky Pork made from Tater tots, sticky BBQ pork, poached egg & hollandaise. The combination of crispy hash browns, tender pork, and velvety hollandaise sauce was simply divine. We also indulged in the delectable Madeira French Toast, featuring thick brioche, berry compote, and vanilla mascarpone. Each bite was a harmonious blend of sweet and creamy flavors.

To complement our meal, we enjoyed refreshing drinks, including a refreshing orange juice and a zesty grapefruit juice. The vibrant citrus flavors perfectly complemented the richness of our brunch selections.

What made our visit truly special was the impeccable service provided by Michelle. Her attentiveness, friendly demeanor, and genuine passion for ensuring guests' satisfaction enhanced our dining experience. From offering recommendations to ensuring our needs were met, Michelle's professionalism and warmth were truly commendable.

The Rose & Crown's charming ambiance, combined with the delightful brunch offerings and Michelle's excellent service, made for an unforgettable morning. Whether you're seeking a relaxed brunch spot or a place to unwind with friends, this Clapham gem is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back for the Roast at some point!

We had our wedding reception upstairs at the Rose and Crown and it was fantastic. Before the day, we worked with Josie and Ros to make sure everything was organised - access early to the room to add some decoration, playlists, wine lists, food choices etc, and I cannot speak highly enough of either of them as to how collaborative they were and how comfortable they made us feel with it. I realised the day before that I’d neglected to get place names, but the R&C team were way ahead of me with beautiful cards. On the day we were extremely well looked after by John at the meal (emanating peace on what had the potential to be a stressful day) and Lenny (professional but fun when we were ready to party) at the drinks reception, with the lovely, calm and capable Maya supporting us through to the end. When we changed from the sit down meal to the drinks reception we were able to go outside and enjoy the late sun while the team did a superb job of quickly resetting the room. The food was (as always with the Rose and Crown) exceptional, we chose the wines we wanted from the standard list but Josie worked with her suppliers to get the specific beer we wanted, and the cost was very reasonable. If you are the type of person who needs every detail planned months in advance this might not be for you, but if you are looking for a beautiful venue with a lovely supportive team to enjoy your celebration I would wholeheartedly recommend The Rose and Crown. Also make sure you go a few times in advance to sample the delicious food and wine, and then keep going afterwards for the same reason!

Visited the Rose & Crown for brunch and had a very mixed experience. Had the tater tots with pulled pork which was very good but the service was subpar. I was early for my booking and shown to a table. Nobody came to take a drinks order so I proactively had to ask for a drink, this is despite a table being seated next to us and having their order taken straight away. After about 15 minutes of being seated, I was asked if I could move to a different table which was fine but I ended up moving most of the things myself, water glasses, menus etc. I could see my Guinness had been poured and left to settle. I know it needs to settle but it was over 5 minutes before it was topped off and I could see staff querying if it could be finished to the bar staff but nobody seemed to want to do it. I had to actively ask for another drink later too and when we asked for the bill that took an eternity. Overall despite being here for a couple of drinks and a brunch dish each it took a long time (the food actually arrived quickly after ordering) and for a lot of it I felt invisible and that I had to actively ask for things, rather than the staff being attentive. It did seem there was confusion among the staff, lots of people moving around and doing things with seemingly little structure. This was a shame as the food was great.
