Terrible service yesterday. We used deliveroo to place our order, however, we were told that The Saffron Club used their own drivers. After an hour waiting, we called the restaurant to find out where our order was only to be told that the driver had brought it back to the restaurant. Apparently he had tried to call us when he was outside but had the incorrect number. The driver did not ring the buzzer at all and were given no explanation why. The restaurant blamed deliveroo for providing the incorrect details on the access code, which may well have been their fault, but the restaurant offered nothing to resolve the issue. Instead they said we'd have a further wait for our meal, despite explaing that we had hungry children waiting for their dinner. Our order was over £70, which arrived cold after a total wait of almost 2 hours and a lot of food went to waste. The customer service was absolutely disgraceful. The food itself was average, and was made worse by it being cold. A manager should have offered some money off or something as some kind of resolution, but no, we got nothing. I will never spend my money here again and will not recommend this...
Read moreUnfortunately this is the first time I’ve had a terrible experience here. My husband & I live in Blackheath village & have been dining in /ordering from saffron for 6 plus years. We’ve always highly recommended here to friends, family & non locals as it’s always been our favourite local restaurant for dining and take away. This time, however, the food quality and taste is one of the worst I’ve experienced - Bland curry, with 6 bite size pieces of over cooked chicken Smallest mixed grill I’ve ever ordered Stale popadoms Bland dry Naan bread Plus all the food was lukewarm In total we ordered 4 mains and 3 sides - 2x chicken korma 1x mixed grill 2x popadom 2x meat samosas Peshawar naan Total of over £75 This barley feed 2 people & wasn’t enjoyable I’m shocked at this experience as there are lots of competitors in the village. If this quality is the future for saffron club, I would recommend going to Panas Gurkha or Everest Inn to avoid...
Read moreMomo, momo momo, momo momo, momo there's no limit...There's no limit to how tasty the momos were for our starter. They tasted very authentically Nepalese, and kicked-off the meal perfectly.
Next-up: Lamb Biryani. Almost made the school-boy error of ordering a rice on the side. Dodged that bullet, but did order the chef's naan basket - which came with enough naan to feed a hungry rugby team. We weren't a hungry rugby team, but we done ate it anyway. And it was delicious - the garlic naan in particular.
No room for pudding, but we capped-off with a bottle of Gurkha beer - which is well worth a try. Not sure how Nepalese it was, since it's brewed in the EU according to their rather natty website.
The courses were punctuated with friendly service, and the whole atmosphere of the place was vibrant - although it was a Saturday night.
I would highly recommend this place - not too expensive, and really...
