Blackheath Common is a vast flat green space and the sight of many historic uprisings. MatTaylor’s Peasant’s revolt of 1381 springs to mind. Today there’s little to remind us of the vibrant history of this green space. Often it’s the site of fun fairs and a great place from which to watch the London Marathon. What spoils the Common is the heavy traffic that surrounds it but from Blackheath, the Common takes you into Greenwich Park, right near the...

Historical places to visit on the Heath; I just came from the mound where the peasants (of the the time) held a meeting for an uprising. If you go there in the day, bring binoculars with you so you can see all the places of interest from the mound without having to walk everywhere. By the geese pond they a special crossing which is adorable when they use it (all...

A very large open area, great for if you want to plan a gathering with friends and family! At one end if Blackheath village which has many shops, pubs and restaurants, a small hospital and multiple schools. There is also a church and and a pond which has ducklings on it at some points in the year but is always a great place to see and feed...
