🚇Bermondsey 🍺 £5.70 Amstel
The Stanley Arms is located on the western edge of Southwark Park in Bermondsey, Southeast London. The nearest Tube is Bermondsey on the Jubilee Line.
This standalone pub was built in the mid-nineteenth century. The pub bares the coat of arms of the Stanley family who ruled the Isle of Man from 1405 to 1736.
This is an immaculately presented one bar pub that is traditionally decorated. Taking centre stage is the stunning curved servery with gilt lettering of the pub’s name on the parapet. Another notable feature of the pub is the beautiful ceiling which is painted in a striking blue. The decor consists of beautiful fireplaces, etched glass, comfy banquettes with union jack cushions, signed Millwall shirts, music memorabilia including an Aretha Franklin gold disc and not forgetting a proper carpet.
The beer selection is all keg and offers a line up of familiar favourites. I decided on an Amstel, my pint was great, price point was less than six quid. This pub doesn’t serve food but there are plenty of bar snacks available.
I arrived just after 3pm on a sunny Friday afternoon in April. There were a couple of punters sat around the bar and a few outside catching a few rays in the Spring sunshine. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed with an 80’s classics soundtrack playing in the background. The service was welcoming and friendly, the lady on duty was chatty and nice natured.
This backstreet Bermondsey boozer was an absolute pleasure to spend time in. The amazing decor, local pub atmosphere, reasonably priced beer and the friendly service made for a top London pub experience. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Keeping your punters updated would be great, but with no website, nobody answering the phone, and wrong hours, you make it nigh on impossible to become a local! Would love the chance to actually experience the (visually amazing) pub, but the inability to actually visit has meant I've had to go elsewhere.
If you need somewhere that'll be reliably open when it says, I'd look elsewhere.
Edit: I'd love the chance to visit and make this review 5*. I'm also happy to pop in and, absolutely free of charge, work to get an online presence where you can update little things like this. I know pubs are a dying breed, especially small independents that are pushing to keep going since COVID. If you'd like to take me up on this, just drop a reply here or post a review mentioning it and I'll be...

The one time I saw activity inside, and staff smoking in the open door, I was told to leave, quite bluntly and rudely, as they weren't opening.
If it weren't for reviews and comments of others, I'd assume this place to no longer open...
