We were firstly uncomfortable regarding the threat of a cancellation fee of £10 per person if we did not show or cancel more than 2 hours before. I understand it’s a difficult time for businesses, but it is for consumers too and I feel this was slightly aggressive from the outset at people you are trying to keep on board.
Secondly, whilst we enjoyed the drink, £13 for a small cocktail (In this case the Polynesian princess) is quite expensive in our view and this meant we were only happy to stay for 1. We would have been happy to stay for 2 had this been more reasonably priced at say £8-£10.
Thirdly, we were given a very poor table very clumsily set up nearly on top of the bar where staff kept going in and out, when there were several other tables available that were far more private and clearly had a more pleasant atmosphere.
Finally, a 12.5% service charge is completely unacceptable for bringing two drinks and a bowl of crisps, without any mention of this being optional.
We will not be returning to your bar and I would strongly suggest you review your set up and policies to avoid alienating...
Read moreBeware this bar adds a service charge on top of the (not cheap) bill but if you call them out they say it's non-compulsory?? It doesn't happen all the time, which is even shadier. Sorry guys but you're asking me to tip you without asking me. If you had a few drinks is very easy to not pay attention, trusting that you're only being charged for the drinks. The service charge is a restaurant policy, where you are billed for being served at your table, not for pouring drinks at the bar. If you do want to establish yourself as such a bar, include it in the price of the drinks in the catalogue and let the customers decided if its expensive. Not even sure if this is written in the catalogue, I certainly never read it. The price you see is what you expect to be charged - no one reads the small prints at the bar. You have to make up your mind whether this is a policy or not.
PS: I've been going to this bar for ten years and this is the first time I came across a situation like that. Not just...
Read moreI had been recommended this bar at least 30 times by locals and friends of mine and my hopes were high, thinking this would be a lovely establishment to come and have a couple cocktails in. Although receiving a table upon arrival we were greeted with sub par customer service. Including our waiter sitting at our table whist taking our order. Which does not project the highest level of customer service. Also upon receiving our bill we realised the service charge had been added on for 3 drinks that to be honest did not deserve any type of service charge, being that my friends Mai Thai was not done properly or that my dark and stormy was bland, To top everything off, I politely requested the service charge be taken off and it resulted in us being taunted out of the bar by the bar staff. Will not be returning as I do not feel this is a professional...
