I've tried it and it's true! Tried and True is a great place.
I called to reserve a table for 4 with my 84 year old dad. The guy who answered was super pleasant. No, they don't take reservations on a Sunday for brunch but the wait is rarely longer than 10 minutes. He left me feeling super positive about my visit.
When we arrived we were looked after quickly and the very same person I spoke to pointed us to a table that would be free in 5 minutes or so.
Very pleasant waiters came to take a drinks order promptly then followed up with food orders later. The pace and attentiveness of the service was just right. They were on it but not too fast.
We went for their award-winning pulled pork and corn bread thingie, a vegetable pesto dish and scrambled eggs on toast.
All were great dishes. If you're particular about your scrambled eggs tell them and they'll make them runny, dry or in-between.
Tried and True is a great place. It feels cosy and local. The coffees and food were great and the service was spot on.
They're a lovely bunch of people and look forward to...
Read moreHmmmm..... It should be lovely. It's bright, there's a garden, but it just ends up being loud and chaotic. And I'm not just saying the enjoyable hustle and bustle of a busy cafe. I understand that sometimes you run out of a product, but when you advertise yourself as a company that is good for food allergies, you better bloody have the products. I'll walk further and past other Cafes to come to your accomodating cafe, and it's pretty disappointing when you don't have gluten free bread. Especially as you store it in a freezer. Then you bring out the breakfast on top of standard bread. Sigh. Chai was way too sweet, and your staff continually bashed one guest in the back as you walked past. Food was pretty good overall, but the environment and coffee drastically let's you down. Tried, and...
Read moreA lively cafe with good coffee and food We were here on a Saturday morning (maybe closer to midday but it's Saturday so who's counting) and the place was very busy with most tables taken. Despite the busyness we were seated quickly (as were most other groups that came in while we were there) and the friendly staff took our orders without any wait. The coffee was our first and was strong and good. I ordered pancakes (as I had heard they were good) and I wasn't disappointed, they were light and fluffy and very filling. My girlfriend had one of the many scrambled eggs options and enjoyed them too. The menu had lots of options for all day brunch so there should be something for anyone. Prices were reasonable for...
