This is my favorite business both locally and throughout London, if you are local I would say it is a must visit. I am grateful to say Two Spoons is not only one of the few restaurants I know of in London to offer Cajun food but that they specialize in it. I come here on occasion for Gumbo on Wednesdays and can’t recommend it enough. I have also tried a number of other starters which I whole heartedly recommend- corn bread, frickles are a must, boudin balls and andouille to my heart’s content- the New Orleans platter is a great way to try many of these. They also have the best beignets you’ll probably ever have. Portions are sizable and delectable. They have many dishes I have yet to try and I can’t wait to. The service always feels professional and considered; a step above all others. The atmosphere is cozy with jazz and big band dixieland playing. At night tables feel private and intimate by candlelight. On occasion, at least once a month, they feature live music. While I do not drink alcohol, they offer a myriad of cocktails which I expect to some of the best you can find anywhere. While I have not visited for breakfast, on an average morning you find it is busy. In my opinion, even apples to oranges, this is the best dining experience (food quality, taste, service, atmosphere) I have ever had and have visited enough to say this type of experience is standard for them. I think it’s cliché to call something a hidden gem, and to be honest part of me wishes to keep this to myself. But Two Spoons is precisely that; an eating experience not to be missed.

I was really looking forward to visiting this place since it looks quite charming, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. From the moment I arrived, I felt unwelcome. I ordered a double espresso macchiato to take away and stood at the far end of the counter where there was ample space. However, the staff member behind the counter, who didn’t seem particularly friendly or enthusiastic about her job, asked me to move to the other side of the counter near the entrance, where space was much tighter. This made it difficult for the waitress to pass by. When I asked why I needed to move, she explained that takeaway customers are supposed to stand there, though the reasoning felt arbitrary and impractical. When I finally received my order, the disappointment continued. The double espresso macchiato was underwhelming (see attached photo). Overall, the poor service and lackluster product left a bad impression, and I won’t be returning.

Very good food and excellent cocktails. My husband and I had 2x brambles each and were pleased with the flavour and complexities. We had the sourdough bread as a starter and the bread was perfectly chewy and sour; the olive oil pairing was very good but not the best I’ve had. I had the shrimp and grits and he the plantains and steak. It was definitely very different flavouring from the shrimp and grits I’ve had in Georgia. The Creole flavouring was tasty, with a hint of spice, and lots of juicy shrimp which made me pleased. The portion size was very good for the price and I got so full I saved half for takeaway. My husband finished his plate and also enjoyed his food; I adored his plantains. Lovey Albanian server who we chatted with a bit as we have visited her country and loved it. Also lovely chef who is from Aix.

Visited here today. I have a dairy allergy and told the waitress this before ordering. She assured me it wouldn’t be an issue. I ordered an oat milk latte, but after drinking some, I noticed something was off. I asked them to double-check the milk, and it turns out they had used dairy milk instead.

The staff didn’t take it seriously. The waitress apologised but no one really did anything about it. I ended up going to the bathroom to try to vomit because last time I consumed dairy, I had to go to the hospital, needed an IV, and experienced horrible stomach pain and fainting. Despite this, the staff seemed indifferent until I spoke to the manager, who apologised but still didn’t offer any real help or support.

I really hope they take allergies more seriously in the future. I've been here before and it's been fine, the place itself is very nice, but definitely beware if you have an allergy.

Edit: To quote your reply - "I’m sorry you feel we don’t take allergies seriously but I can assure you that the well being of our guests is of uttermost importance to us" - the wording of this is vastly underplaying the situation. You served me something that I had to go and vomit up and take emergency meds for so I wouldn't end up in hospital. This was served to me after having had a full conversation with the staff member about being allergic to dairy. You do this to someone with a different allergy and you could have a life on the line. This is not a 'feeling', this is a...

Edit:

Hello, Thank you for replying. Regarding the incident, the waiter who asked me was definitely polite so I completed what I was searching for on the laptop in 2 minutes and then finished my drink and left. She seemed embarrassed to have to communicate this and as she has no say on the rules, I was very polite as well and did not argue with her as it is a management/ownership issue. As a private place, you have the right to set your own rules but you have to communicate them clearly to the customers. writing a rule in a non-clear way on the wall that took me 5 minutes of active searching to find - after being told- is not a really a clear way of communication with the customers. A lot of places have rules that are different from the industry norm like having a minimum charge per person or time limit on how long you can stay but theses places communicate it clearly by telling the customers before they sit and order and the customer has the right to accept or leave. You can not seriously expect everyone to visit your website or read everything that is written on every wall to know all the special rules!! failure to do that, intentionally or unintentionally, is a clear failure of communication. and that is why the place deserve this rating. I did not comment on the other aspects of the service as this can vary. I hope you learn from this and wish you luck in operating your...
