Very poor experience and will not be recommending them to anyone or visiting/ordering again. We had been long standing customers of curry special, and also had them cater at our family/wedding functions - hence we had high expectations for this establishment. We enquired if they do delivery and the person on the phone stated they do it within a 3 mile radius and if it's any further they 'may charge a couple of pounds more.' On checking the mileage on AA route planner, the distance was exactly 4.0 miles - hence we thought the maximum it can be is 2/3 pounds more. He also stated that the minimum order for delivery was £30 - Our bill came to £70 pounds - you would think ordering this much worth of food they would perhaps be happy to eliminate the extra delivery charge for 1 mile further - but no. On arrival, the person delivering the food was a private hired cab - he said the total bill came to £76 pounds - 6 POUNDS EXTRA FOR 1 MILE?? I phoned the restaurant to express my dissatisfaction, and asked to speak to the manager - I was told I am speaking to the manager. He said that they only pay the cabbie £5 to deliver within a 3 mile radius - so naturally I asked, if you are paying the cab service £5 to drive 3 miles, why are they charging me £6 on top of that to drive 1 mile??? I said this is a joke, and if the restaurant had any principles or good will they would eliminate the extra charge for us for delivery. The managers response was absolutely SHOCKING - he said...'Have you finished?' A little speechless I said yes I have finished. He responded - 'It's because it's over the 3 mile radius you get charged double after that.' To which I replied why was I not told that on ordering and why was I originally told it would be only a couple of pounds extra to deliver to us? His reply was OK give the cabbie £72 'since you're not willing to pay it' - is this seriously the way to talk to customers? By this time the cabbie was complaining he has other customers to go to, and when I told him the restaurant told me to give him £72 he said that he believes the restaurant won't pay him the difference - so out of sorrow for the cabbie I gave him the £76 pounds. At the end of the day, it's not the money that matters, it's the principles that matter - and customer service is of paramount importance - however it's obvious they don't have an ounce of it. If the restaurant wish to respond to this review, or invite me to contact them to discuss the issue further - I am more...

Organised a family celebration for about 21 adults and a small number of very young kids.
Mix of vegetarian and meat dishes chosen as a fixed menu to be served. Strange that they would not allow you to take away any leftover food that had been brought to the table. Starters and mains were pretty average and I would not even rate them as 'Punjabi' dishes. Chilli Paneer in starters was too chewy and mild in flavour, Mogo fries had barely any seasoning, fried fish and hariyali chicken were enjoyed well by the family. Sweetcorn in the Sweetcorn dish was obviously frozen which had not been allowed to soften enough and had not much other accompaniment in the dish and just appeared to be a very heavy bowl of Sweetcorn alone. Daal Makhani was not the luxury you expect from a restaurant with this pedigree - too much black pepper in the dish and not cooked to perfection (sometimes too tough to chew). Butter chicken was sweet - which Punjabi puts sugar in their chicken dish? Lamb dish was average. Kofte were NOT 'makhmali' at all - you could still taste the oil from the outer fried layer of the very tough to eat Kofte.
All in all, things are not what they used to be. 2025 experience was a downhill journey in taste at this restaurant. Real shame!
Staff did their best and were pleasant enough to deal with, but if the food lets you down....

They have still got it!
Went today after several years. We used to enjoy the visits to this restaurant when it was run with a different name. The food is just as amazing as I remembered it from before. Each dish has its own flavor and hold itself well. A group of vegetarians who loved the Chana masala, Kofte and the Tarka Daal. Naans, although a bit small, were so soft and melting in the mouth and full of flavour too. The Staff are attentive and presentation of top quality. Well done guys....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Vijay's Virasat an Indian restaurant that left me thoroughly impressed with its delectable vegetarian offerings and impeccable service. From the moment I stepped through the door, the overall experience was nothing short of exceptional.
First and foremost, the restaurant's commitment to providing a variety of vegetarian options was truly commendable. As a vegetarian, it can be challenging to find establishments that offer more than just a token meatless dish. At Vijay's Virasat however, I was spoiled for choice with an extensive menu featuring a delightful array of vegetarian options, each bursting with authentic Indian flavors. The chefs demonstrated a keen understanding of vegetarian cuisine, crafting dishes that were not only flavorful but also creatively presented.
The standout dish for me was the koftas, they left my taste buds dancing. Beyond the delicious fare, what truly set Vijay's Virasat apart was its top-notch service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and displayed a genuine passion for ensuring guests had a memorable dining experience. From the moment I was seated to the final moments of the meal, the service was prompt, courteous, and personalized. The waitstaff was well-versed in the menu, and always checking up on you.
In conclusion, Vijay's Virasat is a gem . The combination of outstanding vegetarian offerings and impeccable service makes it a standout choice in the culinary landscape. I left with a satisfied palate, a full stomach, and a strong desire to return for another gastronomic adventure. Highly...
