Staff helpful, but helpless. Dined on Monday bank holiday 6 May 2019, 5 pm, not very busy. Young bearded waiter with tattoos on his arms very helpful and accomodating. Female supervisor in a yellow jumper also very helpful and apologetic. Now for the actual experience: Music Very Loud, but lovely waiter turned it down so we could actually talk and not shout at each other over food. Both my friend and I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese. A simple dish, difficult to get wrong, especially Zizzi being an Italian restaurant. Or, so we thought. There was only about a spoonful of Ragu on top of spaghetti, could not see much meat in it at all, very watery, tomatoes soup. I asked for more sauce, as I thought this must be a mistake. Chef said the quantity was as 'per the company spec' ! I escalated my complaint and a small bowl if Ragu arrived. We mixed with spaghetti, only to find that it was cold. My friend also said that the whole dish had needed salt, so I walked over again to the counter/bar to get the salt ( our lovely waiter was having his break by then). We asked for parmesan and it was granted and grated over our spagbol, and them taken away, but quite frankly I wd have liked a lot more of it as the few flakes that fell into my watery Ragu melted into it straight away.
Altogether, a very disappointing experience, Never Again Zizzi Kingston. Shame on you. Do you think that customers are stupid, and don't know that spagbol is actually a warm dish and consists of minced beef???
The nice supervisor was very apologetic and didn't charge us for the cold and watery Spaghetti in the end. So, two small Peroni's 330ml each plus garlic bread (4 small pieces) at ÂŁ15.35 is still a rip off. We will go to the pub across the road or...
Read moreThis is a chain restaurant and perfect for meeting with friends or a family meal out. The staff were very patient and pleasant although it has to be said that they were not very on the ball about checking when we were done / next courses especially as we had a ten year-old with us and it was evening plus the restaurant was quiet and there were plenty of staff around. Although I was the only one to order a starter, they didn't ask if I would like that to be brought with a main and when there was an accident and a bottle of coke spilled (most of which we cleared up before the waiter came over - he did so only because I asked for more paper), it would have been wonderful customer service to offer to replace it as it belonged to a child and the bill for four of us without a tip was in excess of £100. Absolutely not something I think SHOULD have been done but small gestures like this ensure your return. The food was pretty standard however the courgette fries were AMAZING. Absolutely like french fries but made of courgette - not a touch of sogginess! The sauce for the fried calamari seemed a little bland. The wine (organic chardonnay) was inoffensive and didn't present with the type of acridity of many pub / restaurant whites which often puts me off ordering white wine. As mentiomed at the start, the staff were all personable and kind, if unfocused. All responded nicely to requests. The spicy alcohol-free cocktail my son ordered had no chilli in it at all. However we did enjoy the evening and appreciate the relaxed environment such places offer for family meet-ups when people are too...
Read moreWe are really disappointed with today's experience , especially since it was a special, double Mother's Day. Firstly, we were only offered a set 3-course Mother's Day menu â I believe that as customers, we should have the option to choose, and the regular menu should have been offered as well. Secondly, especially when coming with small children, we should have been informed that the estimated waiting time for the meal was about 1.5 hours, so we could at least make an informed decision whether that suited us or not. After such a long wait! Finally, the food was served (in the meantime, we had to inquire ourselves how much longer we would have to wait). Overall, the food was reasonably OK, except for my mother's dish â carbonara, where the parmesan was dried out, the pancetta was impossible to chew, and the top of the pasta was all dried out â as if the dish had been waiting under the lamps for an hour to be brought to the table. My mother didn't want to call the waiter herself to point out the issue with the food because she didn't want to risk another 1.5 hours waiting for her meal to be prepared. To our surprise, when the waiter finally came to ask how we liked the food, and my mother gave him feedback, it turned out they could prepare a new portion in 5 minutes!!! In the end, the pasta was deducted from the final bill... It would have been much more pleasant if my mother could have enjoyed her meal on her...
