From start to finish it was a great experience. Daisy, our server, was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. We was one of the 1st to arrive and had the whole area to ourselves. We had a choice to sit where we liked and chose the booth. Daisy was knowledgable of the menu and even when we asked something she wasnt sure on - she found out and came back to us. The food & drinks were ordered with ease and recommendations/advice was given on the best way to have a steak and that we had enough sides but was welcome to order more if we felt we needed to. They have ‘Beaverton - neck oil’ on tap so my husband was very happy as it’s one of his favourites. I had Pepsi max but they do have coke in bottles which i thought was good as most places have either one or the other. I had the cauliflower ‘wings’ and my husband had the scallops with pork belly to start. We were both very happy and did try each others.. so tasty.. the ‘wings’ werent oily, they were light, cripsy and so tasty - the dipping sauce was amazing! The scallop and pork dish was just as good.. soft, melt in the mouth pork belly and tasty beautifully cooked scallops. Then the mains arrived.. a feast! 16oz rump for my husband and 12oz for me. He had chuncky chips and beef dripping sauce, and I had the veg and red wine sauce. We had a side of the cheddar mushrooms.. so many beautiful little cheesy mushrooms 😍 The lettuce wedge for me had classic vinaigrette and hubs had the chilli option. The recommendation for this cut of steak is medium.. we always have our streaks medium rare but on recommendation we went with medium and couldn’t have been happier… it was THE best steak either of us have had in along time and we often chose steak when dining out. The accompaniments were just as good.. the sauces were rich and full of flavour.. the chips are big chunky, fluffy and crispy.. a selection of five different veg - courgette, tender-stem broccoli, baby carrots, peas and mangetout.. buttered and cooked perfectly. We complimented the chef when Daisy came to clear our plates and on hearing this they rang a bell and whooped aloud, which was great to hear. As for desserts… to our surprise Daisy had arranged for a birthday treat to come out for my husband, which was such a sweet thing to do, it was a rich brownie with 2 profiteroles and strawberries… we only mentioned it was a birthday treat as she asked what was the reason for our visit was.. certainly didn’t expect that! I’m not a dessert girl but my husband is - there’s a good selection of desserts and he chose lemon tart with raspberry sorbet. I didn’t try this but he really enjoyed it and commented on how lovely the sorbet was. He cleared both plates so that says it all really doesn’t it :) Overall our experience was great.. the portions are generous, we will go back and recommend it. There’s so many gorgeous things on the menu that we would like to try so we’ll have to go back again! Thankyou for such a great experience!

Hey! Just been to your Maidstone restaurant (15.15pm booking - Sunday) and I just wanted to say how dissatisfied I was, not with the food that was nice but the service was shocking. Arrived and the couple in front of us informed the lady at the front desk that their friend would be late, she abruptly said there was a time on the table and they would have to order a starter whilst they waited, when we sat down 5 mins later their friends walked in. I thought this was quite a frosty welcome and felt like a conveyer belt service. Anyway fast forward to our experience.. we had a waitress called Sarah so we were told, we sat there for a while before she acknowledged us, then she was friendly enough to begin with and said that she would try to remember our order rather than write it down which filled us with confidence. After 5 minutes our halloumi fries came out (starter) but no sign of our drinks which really annoyed my partner as the menu says you can have before dinner drinks yet we were being served our starter before our drinks, worried that our food would get cold we started to eat it but was trying to get attention of the staff for our drinks. Fifteen minutes after we had eaten our starter I asked Sarah for our drinks but was abruptly told that the bar had a back log? No sorry nothing.. I find it laughable that at your entrance it looks all posh bottles of wine on display yet can’t get a drink before starters are brought out? Another ten minutes passed and then the drinks came out (a peroni and a coke lol). Shortly after our main (sharing roast) arrived.. my partner asked for another drink as he had nearly finished the one he had waited so long for, he asked the male waiter who brought our food out this time. Anyway we ate our meal and no one came over to ask if it was nice? We wanted the “unlimited” dripping sauce as we had ran out but fat chance of getting anyones attention for that. The male waiter my partner asked for a drink came back out and we asked again for a drink, he said ok and I saw him go ask Sarah, she came over 5 minutes later to say one was on order again no sorry for the wait. I like to think I am a fair person but such long waits for drinks with your meal is not great, its also not great being offered any drinks or even being asked if your meal is nice. Anyway end of meal, Sarah came over to ask if we wanted desserts (no asking if we enjoyed it?) we said no thank you as we were stuffed, she went ok I will get the bill and walked off. We didn’t ask for the bill and still had our plates in-front of us, we might of wanted a coffee? Or another long wait for a drink? We arrived at 3.15 and were out by 4pm so had plenty of time on the table. We felt rushed and ignored. I can’t believe what awful service was given, actually put us in a bad mood! Can’t believe this is the service people are paying for when money is tight for people. As I said the food was lovely so that makes it more of a shame that the service is so poor!

We went to Miller & Carter on the 9th June for my birthday meal. I am coeliac, and having had an awful experience getting glutened earlier that day by another food establishment with shoddy allergen awareness, it was refreshing to eat out at a place that is so knowledgeable and switched on about Coeliac. We were served by Sarah, who was lovely and so helpful from the get go. She promptly got me a gluten free menu when I highlighted my coeliac and made ordering so easy and stress free. She took my order first, talked me through everything she was doing and even showed me she was ordering everyone as gluten free. When my food arrived, it always arrived separately to everyone else’s and she confirmed it was all 100% my gluten free dish. Despite having dietary restrictions, the GF menu is nearly identical to the main menu, providing lots of choice which is rare for most restaurants. The chicken wings were amazing and the Fillet Mignon steak with the beef dripping sauce was juicy and tasty. Very generous portions and cooked correctly to medium rare as requested. Sarah’s service was great and she was extremely knowledgeable about the whole menu, giving helpful recommendations on what to pair and how the steaks should be cooked depending on the cut of steak. Our whole experience at Miller and Carter with Sarah was a great one and would certainly not hesitate to go back. Thank you for making dinning out a pain free and enjoyable experience, something I’ve not had much of since being diagnosed with coeliac! Of only more places could have the level of attention to detail like Miller and Carter Maidstone had!

Honestly disappointed with the service I received tonight from the restaurant. I have been many times before and the service has gone down hill dramatically. We instantly was nearly turned away due to my husband’s trousers as they didn’t fit “dress code” as my husband has to wear bagger trousers due to being plus size and pretty much felt insulted and we mentioned this to another member of staff and she said he was just mentioning this due to dress code but the way it was said felt insulting and humiliating . Then where I have had surgery my husband mentioned that I needed a kids menu as I cannot managed an adult menu and the guy that took us to the table just rolled his eyes and put the kids menu on top like it was such an issue for an adult to have a kids meal. Honestly I wish I left from the word go after the way we were treated and it just went down hill from there. Between courses we were waiting at least half an hour between each course by this point anyone that came slightly after us had already left after this point. Barely any table touching and the customer service was appalling. Compared to other tables where staff were recommending stuff to other diners and constantly table touching them but we felt completely ignored. Towards the end we had concerns regarding the bill as no one explained to me that I couldn’t use my 10% discount that was provided for me for my birthday and the steak meal deal thing together so the bill turned out more than we expected to get this resolved after I got the 10% removed as it worked out a lot more with 10% discount instead of the meal deal so the voucher was a complete waste of time it took half an hour to resolve whilst being further ignored. After paying by cash the server asked me if I wanted my change and I thought what an odd question and I said yes please. Didn’t even look at me when gave me my change and said here’s your change and just walked away. I said thank you on the way out to be polite and got ignored then as we were just closing the door we got a thank you from another member of staff which was dealing with another set of tables which I thought was nice. Overall the service and atmosphere was appalling. The food was ok but wasn’t worth the money considering all the hassle we experienced. Honestly I wish I never booked a table and wasted just over 2 hours of my time also spending the amount of money we did considering the whole experience. I will not be returning in the future honestly such a shame as I used to love visiting the restaurant but now I’m not even going to give it a...
