First off - disclaimer. This was in the middle of a very hot Bank Holiday Monday. Busy outside, but not inside when we arrived. We did not end up eating or drinking so I can't speak to the quality of that, but you will understand shortly. I popped in (leaving family outside) to see if we needed to book and to see if food was available inside - it was, we were told to sit anywhere we liked. We chose the room to the right of the entrance where there was 5 tables. One was occupied by 1 chap - waiting for some other peeps. I chose another as my family came in. 5 minutes later a server came and gave us a food menu (drinks menu on the table). Then, other people filled in and took up the remaining tables. Those other groups, then proceeded to get served both for drink and then food orders. I caught the 2 different servers eyes at least 3 times each, said excuse me twice to one and once to the other, each time we were met with a "Will be right with you" so I assumed we were acknowledged and they would "be right with us". During our wait, we saw the other groups get furnished with their drinks as well as get told that 3 of the 5 meals they ordered, were now out of stock. All the while we were left to talk amongst ourselves, question how one gets a table quite so sticky and playing kick the days old chips, that were under the table. After a further 5 mins (15 min in total) I had had enough, we got up and left through the front right past the servers who more or less blanked us at that point. Not sure what we had done to deserve that treatment - I certainly don't mind the fact they were busy and we might have had a bit of a wait, but there was not even an attempt to take our drink order. This is a good example of incompetence during a busy time for what I suspect is an "ok" establishment outside of busy times. Given this, I absolutely would not recommend going here, not only because of the appalling service we received (clearly not everyone had such a bad time) but the cleanliness of the place (during covid times) was somewhat concerning.

Nice little pub but unfortunately when we visited they appeared very under staffed. Just one very pleasant lady doing her best and very apologetic but with a queue waiting a fair while just to get a drink to take out and enjoy the sunshine not what you would expect. Great location right on the waterside with ample seating outside and a small garden behind

Lovely little pub. Very friendly staff, the pub is also dog friendly. We often sit outside with a drink watching the river but we've sat inside for a meal a few times with our dog. We've never stayed in the actual hotel

I recently dined at The Anchor Hotel, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The first thing that caught my attention was the outstanding fish and chips they served. The batter was perfectly crispy, and the fish inside was tender and flavorful. It was definitely one of the best fish and chips I have had in a long time.

The customer service at The Anchor Hotel was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations. The waitstaff was prompt in taking orders and ensuring that all our needs were met throughout the meal. It was evident that they genuinely cared about providing a pleasant dining experience for their customers.

Another aspect that impressed me was the reasonable pricing. Despite the high quality of the food and the excellent service, the prices at The Anchor Hotel were quite affordable. It was refreshing to find a restaurant that offers such value for money without compromising on taste or service.

Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favor that day. It was cloudy, and we were unable to enjoy the outdoor seating area and the beautiful view that I had heard so much about. However, I believe that the ambiance of The Anchor Hotel would be even more captivating on a sunny day.

In conclusion, The Anchor Hotel exceeded my expectations with its delicious fish and chips, excellent customer service, and reasonable prices. While the weather may have dampened the experience slightly, I would still highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delightful...

We booked the hotel for location near a wedding at Creeksea Place. Excellent value and we just needed a place to crash. Excellent value and for the price we were very impressed.||We asked to book in early, just collect our keys, and arrived just as they opened. Our room was ready and we were able to get our luggage in. Very warm welcome. Room was comfortable (room 3) nice en-suite, with all we need. Toiletries and towels all there. Very clean. Remember it is an old building so the floors are quirky, which I think gives it character.||It is a working pub, so while it is open there is noise outside, but this is a quite riverside town and all ended at a reasonable time. Then very quiet, with the clock tower marking the quarter hour. There was some noise when the hotel air conditioning started up occasionally but this just made a background hum and was no problem. ||The room had a tv and plentiful supply of tea/coffee/biscuits in the room. ||Delivery for the pub on Friday, so there was some noise, but not an unreasonable hour (7.30am) in the morning. A very good breakfast, cooked fresh for us, with all we needed. Makes such a nice change from the kept warm buffets you often get at hotels. There is a nice breakfast area, looking out at the quay, where the ferry runs from and you can take trips to see the seals etc. There is a large bar area and a nice restaurant with windows to the front. ||A great location in the town, on the front, with ample parking at the rear of the hotel. All the local attractions on your doorstep. I would...
