The Polash — Restaurant in Maldon

The Polash in Burnham-on-Sea truly deserves its first class status. From the moment we sat down, the service was as smooth as a perfectly executed cabin announcement, friendly, attentive, and just the right side of chatty. We started with poppadoms and the full line up of garnishes, all beautifully fresh and full of flavour. For my main, I went for the chicken dansak with plain rice and naan a dish so delicious it could easily tempt me to upgrade from economy any day. The flavours were perfectly balanced: rich, tangy, and utterly satisfying. My friends visiting from France were equally impressed, which says a lot, they’re not easily wowed! The waitress was an absolute delight, making the evening feel warm and relaxed without a hint of fussiness. The food was great however the service was lacking. Friends who live in the area didn't recommend going here but the place was packed every time I walked past so tried it on Monday night. The food came out slowly and when it did we were told the rice would follow shortly. We had almost eaten all our food and we were still waiting. I had to ask the manager what was happening and express my disappointment in the service. To be fair he took the late items off our bill but didn't apologise. Our empty glasses sat on the table the whole time and I had to ask for them to be cleared as we had order more drinks and now had double the glasses on the table.
