We visited this lovely little cafe on a wet Saturday afternoon. I was on the quest for a coffee and cake and wasn't disappointed.
First off, service was amazing - from the friendly greeting, to the table service it was amazing.
I came in for cake - ended up ordering from the menu for a light lunch. I went for the meat lasagne and my partner the carrot and courgette soup. Perfectly honest, we did not really expect what we got!
The soup arrived in a good sized bowl, steaming hot with obviously freshly made bread with real butter. My lasagne quickly followed with an equally impressive portion being served - with a nice side salad and more of the bread and butter.
I am often disappointed with lasagne, but not this time. Freshly made, lovely crisp cheese topping, good meaty sauce and lovely creaminess with the pasta. My feeble words do not do it any credit. My partner thoroughly enjoyed her soup - she described it as the lunch she didn't know she wanted until she had it.
Now the cake.... I went for the fruit cake and what a beautiful slab of it I got! Moist, fruity and fresh. Took me back to being a kid an my gran making Dundee cake for new year
My Americano coffees were equally good and the lady grey tea well received.
Thank you for such a lovely welcome and amazing...
Read moreRude staff! Despite advertising books and antiques outside, they clearly don't want you to actually buy anything. This is partly because of the bad layout with all the books behind the coffee tables but mainly because of the incredibly rude elderly female member of staff who seems to think that browsing the books and antiques for 15 minutes does not make you a customer. This staff member was insulting and caused embarrassment towards myself and my partner. We were thinking of stayingfor lunch and coffee but decided to take our business elsewhere. I will never give a penny to this business if it continues to employ...
Read moreWhen entering the cafe we were greeted by a friendly lady that told us that all their stuff was hand made and that the produce was local. Sounds good, so we ordered the (recommended by the owner) sausage bap. Thatâs when it got bad. The sausages had clearly been pre cooked and then warmed up to order. They were cold ( tasted like they had been boiled) and the bread was stale, and at ÂŁ4.50 each I would have expected a freshly cooked sandwich. We wonât be eating here again. It is a shame because it looked like a nice family run place when we...
