We were very disappointed in my husband's meal. He ordered a Rump Steak, medium rare. It looked wonderful as it arrived on the table, but not many mouthsful in it got very tough & he couldn't even chew it. At that point he gave up. It had a rather unpleasant smell too. My meal, a veggie lasagne was ok. Lots of it, 3 pieces gf garlic bread & salad garnish. When he complained the young lady he spoke to didn't deal with it very professionally. Blamed the butcher & the fact that it was very thick. We asked her to go & speak to her boss. She said, "she's over there". We said, "she's busy serving other customers". This was my very first time at Upton-upon-Severn and we visited the marine on a beautiful sunny (but cold!) Boxing Day. We decided to stay for some quick lunch at The Wheelhouse and, although they had a short menu due to the bank holiday, we were quite pleased with the options available. The jackpotatoes were delicious, as it was everything else. Coffee was really nice too. To top it all up, the staff was extremely attentive and friendly! We appreciate all hospitality professionals who work during bank holidays to provide a nice experience to others who are lucky to enjoy the day off, and there they were clearly having a nice time kindly helping all their customers, always with a smile in their faces. We went on a Saturday morning. No one greeted us or assisted us for a long time even though there were at least 6 staff working. No one made eye contact, spoke to us or anything. Didn't feel welcome. Eventually we asked someone and they said you have to order and pay at the bar. This wasn't on a sign or anything and we thought someone would have told us. My wife went to order and there was already people waiting. Staff still milling about but no one serving. I asked a waitress texting if someone could serve.
