Really wanted to give this place a fair shot but I have to be honest in the hopes there is improvement. The food was great, portion sizes were large and didn’t take long to come out the kitchen. The staff on the other hand need training. The initial waiter that came to help seemed to be completely untrained, firstly very abrupt whenever he came over to talk to us and then walking away from us when we asked a simple question, instead of acknowledging us and letting us know that he would ask for us. We were 1 of 2 tables in the entire restaurant during this point. Even after clarifying an item number on the menu multiple times, they still took the order down wrong and gave us the wrong dish. I understand mistakes happen, but we did repeat numerous times this dish number to confirm it. I had brought a birthday cake in for a surprise before my whole group had arrived, with the hopes of having the staff bring it out for us after our meal, which they did - after ruining the surprise by asking the whole table if she should bring it out and then just bringing the cake over still in the box, with no plates or cutlery to eat it with. The waitress also tried clearing our drinks away when we hadn’t even finished them and after I had asked her not to clear it away. I also had to teach the waitress that took my payment how to use the card machine as she didn’t seem to know what she was doing. Read morethe food is decent but based on customer service and prices alone it's gonna gave to be one star. we got a 30% off voucher which says no where "eat in only", but we called to double check (we only live a 30 sec walk away so we would have happily sat inside). so on the phone we said "is the 30% off voucher only for sitting in or take away too?" they said yes specifically or we would have sat in. so we ordered extra food because of the voucher, went to pay and she said full price £40, should have been £28. so we said why is it not said on the voucher and why did you say yes over the phone and she was just like 🤷♀️ i said so if i sit in now we get the 30% off and she said no cos we've started it (?) and then we checked how much it would have been to order through deliveroo and it would've been £36. so basically, they actively charge you full price if you collect it yourself but 10% off on deliveroo or 30% off if you simply sit inside, and she would not budge at all. i asked to just fully refund it so we could go for food somewhere else and they said no to that, then they gave us egg noodles instead of egg fried rice. defo not going again whether foods decent or not.
EDIT since they responded: i wasn't trying to combine vouchers and it was being used at dinner time (after 5:30) so your response doesn't address a single thing i've said... either way, lying over the phone is bad and getting our order wrong is bad. so is false...
Read moreEdit as they have replied: Noodles dish was not the same size as a normal portion, it filled half the tupperware it was in. When put onto a plate it was a child's portion, plus 3 fishcakes and a few strings of lettuce did not look like £13.50 worth of food
Agree with the other reviewer regarding lunch sizes - just too small. Bearing in mind there was only £2 difference between the lunch and "big dinner" versions of the main meal, I opened the bag to find only half a portion (at a push). That certainly does not reflect the price difference.
Then add to that I was refused the 10% collection discount as it doesn't apply at lunch (come again?!), and the fishcakes felt like they'd been warmed up from the night before (certainly not fresh) can only leave me with the opinion that they are taking advantage of lunchtime customers.
Shame really as I liked this place when it first opened, but when will these restaurants learn that the key to success isn't by ripping customers off. Yeah, you got my £13.50 this time, well done, but I'd be a fool to fall...
