We stopped here for an early dinner after visiting National Trust Quarry Bank on the way home from a mini break. We enjoyed a tasty meal here, there were a couple of issues but not enough to mark down too much or put us off returning if we were ever in the area again. The food itself was all delicious and presented beautifully. We had 2 starters (black pudding and the cauliflower fritters) which were both incredible. The cauliflower in particular was spectacular! All 4 of us had a main meal however my partner was served the wrong pie although he decided not to wait for a replacement as we all already had our food (he didnt want to wait for a replacement to be cooked and us all have finished or have cold food) and the pie he was served was still really nice. Our only comment for improvement here would be for staff to write down the orders as our waitress didnt write down when we were ordering which resulted in the wrong pie being put through the till - it did make us nervous at the time as in our experience when wait staff are trying to remember everything and not write it down, things often go wrong. Thankfully this time around the error was pretty tasty so the dissapointment was offset! We then ordered 2 desserts, the giant choux and the loaded meringue which were tasty and looked amazing. The meringue however could be refined a little; it was HUGE, enormous, massive. Not necessarily a bad thing but it was over cooked and because of it's size there was nowhere near enough cream/icecream/fruit served with it so the contrast was all out of proportion. It was delicious however would have been more enjoyable had it been a little smaller, cooked a little less so it was soft in the middle and served with a proportional amount of the accompaniments. In saying that i still thoroughly enjoyed it and sent back an empty bowl!
The restaurant area is very nice, peaceful and has lovley decor and atmosphere, comfy seats and spacious tables. We sat in a booth seat in the back with a great view of the airplanes landing at Manchester Airport. All the staff are friendly and polite and you can see that its a place loved by locals and visitors alike.
Overall we had an enjoyable meal here and with a few tweaks this could be a 5 star worthy restaurant, it definitely has...
Read moreTurned up here 6pm on a Sunday night after being turned away from the nearby Airport pub due to having a dog. The gentleman on the car park at the Airport pub informed us this was a sister pub located round the corner that is dog friendly. It is and they do. So the dog, son, and me flopped down in a pleasant beer garden. I paid £26 for pie & chips, a kids meal of fish fingers chips and peas, a fruit shoot and bottle cider. Sounds expensive, and whilst not outrageous, would describe it as pricey for what it is. Was told there was a 40 minute wait for food but it turned up comfortably under that. Portions were generous, food cooked and presented nicely. Pie crust a little overdone although if its not freshly made pastry, it was as good as can be expected. Filling was stewed a little too long, couldn't really taste the ale. It was okay. I don't expect fresh pastry at these prices but I do expect a little more overall quality. It was a well kept beer garden and there was a nice atmosphere, staff were attentive and polite, despite being patently quite busy. Every now and again an airplane whizzed by on its way to landing on the runway a few hundred metres away. Enjoyable and the only complaint is nothing to do with the pub, rather the chain smokers who puffed away clouds of smoke that enveloped me and my three year old son as we ate. Our clothes stink of smoke the day after. It was only this that made us leave as quickly as we did and not hang around for another pint. Sorry if this sounds a little unenthusiastic, it's a nice pub with a well kept beer garden with lawns and excellent range of beers on tap. There's a nice atmosphere in the pub and the planes landing a nice twist. The weather was good. The prices and food only being okay at that price are all that sullied it for me. I would go back, I'd try...

Myself and My Partner visited here on the 9th April 2019 for Food and Drink.
Upon arrival we were met and introduced to Hannah and Chelsea who were our hosts for the evening whilst in the restaurant and bar area.
After taking in the beautiful historic refurbished building with SUPER CLEAN both Interior/Exterior we entered through a country modern door to a very unique Outstanding Bar Centre First, Seating left and Behind & Restaurant Area to the Right Lavatories next to but the first feel was calm, quite and peaceful, Amazingly Super Clean and Shiny, the place was emaciate. towards the end of food but they were insistent and polite on taking us to a table to accommodate our food request. We were able to pick a table, close to a brilliant view through glass windows (without a mark on them) As we looked through the fair price ranged menu with DEALS, SPECAILS, and more great quality dishes on offer which actually do cater for all. We ordered our food which came, FRESH, HOT, FLAVOURSOME, with Outstanding Tastes. The Portions are the money maker and more here as well as for High Cleanliness, Super Great Attitude, Sensational Tastey Food, Deluxe Awesome Service from Real Genuine Ladys. was really great to have found this little gem
after had just been disappointed at the flying horse minutes beforehand.
My huge portion of meal came wrapped and in boxes which was awesome cheers I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND
