Forever Green Restaurant — Restaurant in Mansfield

A scalding experience ! So this morning I visited Forever Green with my family . We often go for a morning coffee . Lovely setting . We like to get to know the staff by their names . This morning we all ordered tea cakes , two coffees and a tea. The tea cake unusually arrived first so table quite full . Drinks came next ..three drinks on a round tray , tea in a tea pot two lattes. The lovely girl who was called Kate..lifted two drinks off at the edge of the tray and as she did do and leaned forward , the remaining drink tipped over backwards. It was hot, and I was concerned about her ..and helped her wipe up checked she was ok . I was scolded too but did not want to make a fuss, . So after we had eaten our tea cakes we ordered three more coffees ..a different girl this time served us, and can you believe this time she did the exact same thing and two cups dropped back, Same thing again checked she was ok . I mopped up the table as no one came, and the floor with tissues and we chatted a bit . No one from the staff came to clean up the table or floor . After a while we watched them take a coffee to another table but not replacing ours. I got up to go to wash myself as I had been scalded, and my hands were sticky, so on the way I asked the girls if they had forgotten our coffee. The manageress said sharply “you are not having another coffee unless you pay for it, you have already scalded two of my staff!” To be honest at first I was in shock..I don’t care about the coffee, but I do care about being accused of scalding someone ! I did not touch the trays nor did anyone else ! I think maybe the girls were worried about being blamed but we had not complained so a replacement was fine..I mean I got scolded twice! I was so angry and upset I went back to ask what I was supposed to have done . I was mainly ignored apart from “it happened twice , you are paying for your coffee” By now in tears, my sister went to ask for someone higher up..we refused to pay. (For anything!) Manager was fetched and he spoke to us outside and asked me to explain, said he had heard both sides now and said he would sort it out. We came away and I have no idea if anything was said . The lovely young girls need safety training about trays and coffee. The manageress needs serious training on her customer approach. She was so rude . We are sad as we will never return..and I refuse to be blamed for something I did not do.. More to the point someone...

9th june 2025. We've just arrived back from our birthday lunch meal which weve been looking forward to for a couple of weeks. It was my 1st time eating here. My friend has been several times. The menu looks good with lots of choice but boy how disappointing my meal was. I ordered the sweet & sour chicken with stir fry veg and rice. It was awful. 3 Deep fried pieces of chicken in the most vile sweet & sour sauce I've ever tasted. Loaded with sugar/sweetener and salty. I ate one of the pices of chicken which was in over cooked batter. The tandoori rice just wasn't the best and the stir fry veg? Tiny chopped pieces in the sauce. I ate a little and had to leave the rest. It was inedible. After asking a member of staff to take it away, I was offered something else. With an awful taste in my mouth, even after a glass of water and rinsing my mouth in the bathroom, I asked for just a plain omelette. Nothing else just a plain omelette, when it arrived it had skinny chips and beans! Because I'd not seen the menu i wasn't aware it came with chips. I ate the omelette which was nice and fluffy. My friends enjoyed her meal but I can say I was so disappointed with my experience we left without ordering desserts. In all honesty it was my worst birthday lunch in years. Such a let down, on a plus side. The area is beautiful with lots of wild life to keep you entertained whilst...

Save yourself the disappointment and book somewhere else . Today I ordered a brunch meal for myself, when is arrived, It was obvious that the sausages were undercooked and I immediately cut one in half to check the filling, finding meat inside pink. I asked the waitress to return it to the kitchen. She returned shortly and I was then informed that the sausages were perfectly cooked. Again to me this was obviously not true as the skin of the sausages looked like they’d only been boiled rather than grilled or fried in any normal way. Perhaps they’ve been warmed up over a long period of time in an oven to get that just blanched look. Rather than debate this at the table, I left the sausages on the side of my plate and ate rest of the meal which in itself was not too bad, although the large amount of oil, from the fried egg on the plate, was a little off putting.

When I went to pay, I pointed out that I was disappointed with my meal and was again reassured that the sausages were perfectly cooked. I disagree with this assessment paid for my meal and left. I won’t be visiting this restaurant again. Good luck if you’re booking an event there , it might be wise to give Imodium to your guests as a freebie.
