Chinese Chequers — Restaurant in Mid Suffolk

A group of 9 visited for the Sunday buffet for a double Birthday celebration. We requested an additional seat at very short notice which was actioned immediately. The service, friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The food, plentiful and tasty. A lovely afternoon full of fab company, conversation and celebration with delicious Chinese food. Buffet included starters, mains and desserts. I provided celebratory cakes and candles that came out as requested with candles. Free parking in Stowmarket car parks on Sundays an added bonus. We had our table from midday and left around 14.45. We are all looking forward to another visit and will certainly book again in the future . My boyfriend and I popped in Chinese Chequers on our way to Cambridgeshire. We came there on Sunday when they had a buffet - selection of meals. We decided to try those dishes. So, I asked them if they had food which are is not sweet and without meat - I think there was at least 7 such options, so I was very happy. I took noodles, chestnut with cashews, spicy fish, prawns, spring rolls, and then vegetables fried with soya sauce and tofu with vegetables. It was a feast! Having watched a movie at The Regal we decided to go to Chequers for dinner afterwards. Best decision ever!! The food was really good - and I mean, really good. The spare ribs were lightly crispy, tender and melted in the mouth. The hot and sour soup was just the right balance of tangy and spicy. We then had the sizzling steak (so tender) with black pepper sauce - frankly, the best we’ve ever had - and delicious, delicate prawns in ginger and spring onion sauce.
