I emigrated to the states 10 years ago and we came here while visiting family. This coffee shop made me feel like I was home in Brooklyn, the small things are what make it; utilising pillars for small standing spaces, tap water in a big dispenser that you can help yourself to, the split level seating, the industrial feel, the properly staffed barista bar, and the handleless mugs--the ceramics are really nice, a sturdy earthenware that's cool enough to hold but also keeps the coffee hot. To top it off it's dog friendly indoors and outdoors, just not upstairs, the patio seating they have is nice too, a mix of tables chairs and benches overlooking the marina. The coffee is superb, truly the best flat white in Milton Keynes. The chilli cheddar toastie that I had was delicious, the chilli jam has just a lovely level of warmth and the bread they use is herby and complements the cheddar perfectly. The sausage roll is served with an onion chutney and is again, excellent. Everyone else was happy with their toasties and pancakes too (Yank, ham & cheddar, plain). The only suggestion was that a small handful of blueberries or strawberries would've really elevated the pancake. They have coffee to purchase to take home (which I did), dog treats, an incredible selection of cold drinks (so you don't have to be a coffee drinker to enjoy this place!), ice cream in pots or as sandwiches and a tempting selection of cakes and pastries. All of which is locally sourced and made. The detail, seriously, the people that run this place clearly care about what they do and where they are. It's delightful. I've been in MK for 2 months with family, I'm leaving this week and I'm so sad that I've only just found this place. I would've been in most days, to work while looking out over the canal and wharf, and sipping on some truly divine coffee!

We love this new addition (Sept23) to the MK Coffee scene and Campbell Wharf. Located in the new development, the shop overlooks the canal and is a great spot to stop after walking along the canal or from nearby Willen Lake. There is limited parking with a one hour limit and I mean limited as in handful of spaces, walk/bike/run there if you can. The shop itself is bright and airy, with seating in the ground floor when you enter, seating outside and a mezzanine upstairs. Upstairs is also where TSweetmap is located, a dessert shop where Tracy makes the cakes for sale and for the shop. Frankly it's more than a dessert shop, it's a patisserie and kitchen, it's incredible and the cakes and bakes are top notch. The cafe itself does brownies, cakes, croissants etc along with a nice breakfast and lunch menu including eggs, toasties etc. It sells a wide range of teas and soft drinks and has a great hot choc menu including a Nutella Hot Choc! But I came for the coffee and it didn't disappoint! The Doe & Fawn Coffee is absolutely superb (a local roaster) and is expertly made by the team. I actually think it's the best coffee I've ever had in MK, seriously, the best. So if by now you aren't tempted to visit or make a detour, honestly, what more can I say. Canal St Coffee in Campbell Wharf is a must visit.

I was randomly stopped in the street last week by a lady who excitedly asked "Have you ever been to Canal Street Coffee?". Weird in itself! However I do love an independent coffee shop so thought I'd check it out on my day off. What a little treasure it is! Beautiful decor, very spacious, nice atmosphere (I explain the lost star below). Most importantly, the coffee is spot on (beans available to go as well and yes, I bought two bags!). I had a Cinnamon bun which was delicious, there's a good range of cakes pastries and sandwiches on the menu to try out. It is well worth a visit if you find yourself near Campbell Marina. My only advice for the proprietor was that I could see a few tables upstairs where people looked like they'd literally moved in for the day! I'm sure it's fine, and if course it's not my problem per se, but let me just say - don't let them take the mickey and keep an eye on it - make sure these people pay their way and don't let them damage the atmosphere; I've seen a few small places in London really struggle with managing this. It's a coffee shop, not a WeWork! 😁

I’m a massive fan of this cafe - the baked goods and patisserie are particularly and notably fantastic - my friends and I tried two varieties of blondies, a croissant, a cinnamon chai caramelised pear tart, and a Hong Kong milk tea mousse cake - all of which were great, and the latter two blew us away. Not too sweet, the flavours were complex and perfectly balanced, and they had a nice variety of textures.

The coffee lived up to the baked goods, they clearly know their roasting, and a flat white was particularly delicious. My only word of caution - the other drinks were disappointing. A matcha latte used both low quality matcha (it looked brown and swamp like, rather than the vibrant green it should be) and was very weak, which mean that it mostly tasted of the milk. A chai latte was even worse - it was acrid from whatever syrup/concentrate they’re using, and cinnamon was the only discernible other flavour. I couldn’t finish it. It’s disappointing to see a cafe that clearly takes its other products seriously to have such a miss on these. Particularly when the flavours are used so well in their cakes!

The service was good, and the staff were dealing very well with a very busy Saturday. I will absolutely be back, and I’m looking forward to trying one of their toasties. I do hope they’ll look to improve in the few areas...
