I booked a table for 7 for 12:30. We didn’t know that there was a Marathon happening in Willen Lake today (which made parking for us a bit harder than usual). We got to the door around 12:37-12:38, the host asked me with a condescending tone ‘can I help you?’ I said ‘yes, we have a booking for 12:30’ she just got louder and went ‘YES, YOU’RE VERY LATE, I nearly gave your reservation to someone else’ People were looking at us! I mentioned to her that I thought there was a 15 minutes gracing period. She went ‘YEAH, but if you didn’t turn up in the next 5 minutes I would have let your table go’ she kept giving us attitude..we would have understand if we didn’t turn up in the 15mins gracing period, we would have lost our table, but we got there in under 10mins. I would have personally walked out there and then, however my partners family is about to arrive and I didn’t want to make a hustle on going to a different place for food (specially they drove for over 2hrs to get here). I was taken back from the lady with the black cardigan (about 55-65 years old) that I couldn’t even focus on checking the menu. She was also talking about us to her staff, like pointing at us a lot. Which made me feel so uncomfortable. We have overheard her serving the next table who was also a little late (we know because one of them mentioned it quite loud) and she basically shrugged it off and was smiling at him (while all we got from her was attitude).
We can see that they were quite busy, so we understand that the service is going to be a bit slower than usual. Some of the food we wanted to order was already out for them, and it did took a while. (A bit longer than a 15 mins gracing period).
It wasn’t all bad only because the waitress we had was a nice newbie who have great energy, attentiveness and was very polite (10/10 for Customer Service). If it weren’t for her I would have gone for 1 star. The nice waitress had dark curly hair, quite young, unfortunately I didn’t catch her name but very nice service for her. Nice view from...
Read moreI’ve visited Lakeside many times before and had lots of positive experiences! This time however left me never wanting to visit this establishment again, or any other place holding the Greene King name if this is how they instruct their staff to treat people. Customer service used to be the corner stone of any Greene restaurant, but I’m sad to say that seems to have been lost along the way. I arrived with a large party on a beautiful Thursday afternoon. The restaurant had lots of empty tables inside and out so thought I would ask if they could accommodate us. We were met at the door by a member of staff who seemed to not want to be at work that day and genuinely put out that I was asking for a table. We asked to sit to outside as it was nearly empty and a lovely summers day, was told he would have to check if he could serve us! I was confused as the restaurant was not busy, but thought as we were a large party maybe they couldn’t sit us together. He disappeared into the back for a few moments and returned and said, “No we can’t do that.” I asked what he meant, and he said that he couldn’t serve us. Me thinking it was the party size asked if we could sit separate and treat us as individual covers and take some booths within the restaurant and our party would split up so we could carry on enjoying our day with a nice meal. We were told “No sorry, try Brewers Frayre down the road.” Shocked, I stated that we were now small groups just looking to be seated separately, I was cut off by the member of staff saying “ I’m just telling you what I was told.” I was very embarrassed as there was customers other customers behind us and had now point blank been refused entry to a restaurant I had previously enjoyed. I wonder if Nick Mackenzie knows of the lack of customer service rooting itself within the Lake Side restaurant in Milton Keynes. Along with members of staff sending customers to its competitors. For the record, Brewers Frayre was amazing and...
Read moreDrove here from southwest I couldn't comment on the food the kitchen closes at 9pm company hours however after our booked sessions we planned to eat around 7pm with the children at the lakeside pub. Got to lakeside at 6.42pm was told there is no more roast dinners ok fair enough. Went back to my table changed our choice. It was now 6.47pm asked for kids chicken nuggets was told sorry kitchen closed. I was taken back as I am sure when planning this trip 2 weeks in advance I knew the kitchen closed at 9pm on Sundays. I am no one's fool so I went to found the table waitress. (Waitress and waiters always spill the beans) the truth of the matter is. The dishwasher was broken and the lazy staff who are paid for their jobs couldn't be bothered to wash the pots and the chef has had enough. So being the close nitted team they are the chef and certain members of bar staff decided to close the kitchen. Firstly 10/10 for team.work I mean they all agreed to do the public and their kids over together. However that's a 0 for customers Satisfaction and a -0 for meeting the customers needs. The poor waitress couldn't clear the tables for the fast paste turn over and the bar staff and chef that won't cook stood at the bar talking give the girl a hand make the place run efficiently. Place needs a good clean new staff a chef that will meet the customers needs and 2 more waitresses to help the young girl out. And closing half the restaurant due to lack of motivation to clean it at the end of the day was the stupidest decision of all. It quite clear employees manage the pub not the owners. As owners would not prevent sales they encourage them. If this was my business I would be fuming as they easily lost £2000-£3,500 today. Poorly managed could be a outstanding venue with the right team of staff I know well greenking is a company that look after their staff so it is very disappointing to see what the employees bring to the table. Ie nothing...
