I booked a table for the 25th April at 18:30, for my daughters birthday. We arrived promptly. It's been a long time since I last dined at the Harvester. When we arrived, we waited patiently, and the bar staff was busy doing drinks. A waitress walked past without any acknowledgement, which was quite strange. The person behind the bar didn't acknowledge us either.
Then a man came around the corner and bluntly said, "Have you booked" yes I have," I said."" He then said, "Your name. " I gave him the name we booked under.
He then said, "Follow me, picking up menus. We followed him, but we were delayed slightly due to a guest picking up his jacket.
As we went around the corner, the man was coming back in our way and didn't say anything, not even pointing to our table.
We noticed menus on a table. we sat down and started to look at the menu.
I knew what I wanted as I looked at the menu online, but as we waited, not one waiter / waitress acknowledged we were there.
After 10 minutes, we got up from the table we headed out, the man who took us to our seats, we walked past us, didn't say anything.
This restaurant can do better.
When the last time I walked into the Harvester, we were greeted with a warm smile.
Hi, welcome to the Harvester. "Have you made a booking? Not like what we were greeted with, "Have you booked!"
Being taken to the table and the waitress/ waiter actually waiting until we are seated.
Being acknowledged any staff.
Points of reference for you, your team, if you are reading this.
If you see the guest arrive, please acknowledge them. By saying hi / Hello, someone will be with you shortly. The host needs to be warm and welcoming. Hi / Hello, and welcome to...

As it happens I'm a loyal Harvester customer, though no longer at this branch. I am genuinely disgusted by what happened when I tried to visit and I think the response here from presumably the manager tells it all.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe this is a really well run place and they don't like me so when they see me coming up the car park they put bags over the draught pumps, clear the shelves of any soft drinks, hire in a school kid to stand behind the bar and say "sorry" a lot and then take the restaurant staff, hide them somewhere and leave me standing at the door with a group of friends until we give up and go elsewhere. Oh, also perhaps they save dead flies from the summer and scatter them neatly on window ledges to make it look as if they just don't bother to clean the place.
This is a summary of my last two visits. But in fairness, that was a couple of months ago so they've probably gone through 20 managers since then and the current one might be a lot better. Couldn't be any worse. It is a real shame as until Harvester started pratting about with their formula- their salad cart (the only decent thing there) and peeing off their experienced staff so they left, this was a really good place and it was a regular haunt for many, many years.
It's a shame I have to even give...
Read moreBad service , rude staff , false advertising , Went for a birthday meal with family , as soon as we arrived we were told there was no chicken and no sweet potatoes , I understand it’s pay day weekend and they are busy but the manager would know that and should order in accordingly ? We were told their delivery is tomorrow Before we arrived I looked on the website and it stated they do a Sunday evening deal . Two courses £17.99 anytime Sunday after 1130am I showed the waitress she said they didn’t do that anymore ! I said well it’s on your website so that’s false advertising ? Manager came over and said no sorry we don’t do that deal anymore , yet it’s live on their website ? I then had a voucher that was emailed to me for a free birthday meal , when you buy two main meals … We did just that as well as a kids meal , when the bill came , the kids meal had been taken off but not the main meal ? Manager said it’s the cheapest meal that you get free so in this instance this is the kids meal , so how is that my birthday meal free ? When you order two main meals I think this is false advertising The waitress Lucy was very snappy and defensive and said it wasn’t her fault , I didn’t once blame her or any staff member but they shouldn’t be allowed to advertise something that’s not available The manager and Lucy made me feel very uncomfortable and quite frankly ruined the atmosphere as well as it being embarrassing to query the bill , especially...
