Went to Imperial Garden for lunch and dinner. They have a great selection of dimsum to choose from. Siu mai was not too bad apart from fingernail sized abalone. Xiao long bao was not good. The meat texture was horrible and dry inside (no soup) and the outside pastry was very thick. Taro croquettes/puff was also dry and not standard meat filling (only contained mince meat). Squid at dimsum had a strong baking soda taste to it (a shame as the dinner salt & pepper version was much better).
For dinner, overall food was not too bad apart from the seafood. Crab and prawns (Salted egg) were not fresh, would recommend avoiding ordering these items. Crab meat had shrunk meaning there was hardly any meat inside. Every prawn was extremely mushy, not fresh/cooked correctly. The Aubergine claypot was heavily drenched in fish sauce (too overpowering). Sweet and sour pork, salt & pepper squid and beef fried ho fun were very good.
A great addition to the MK area as it was lacking a good dimsum restaurant. It is in a great location with plenty of parking. It has a great atmosphere if you enjoy the HK style restaurant setting. They offer a VIP membership which can get you discounted special drinks (e.g. bubble tea).
There is a small Chinese convenience store next door to the restaurant with the...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience
This was an unpleasant experience that happened at this restaurant last Sunday. Our group of five arrived around lunchtime and were waiting at the entrance since all tables were full at the time.
While we were waiting, a loud voice suddenly came from the bar area. A middle-aged lady, apparently a staff member, walked over to two of my friends. It turned out that they had been chatting and had unknowingly stood a bit too close to the doorway. Instead of politely asking them to move, the lady spoke in a very loud and harsh tone, which made my friends feel extremely uncomfortable.
To make matters worse, the restaurant was full, and everyone turned their heads to look at us. It was a very embarrassing situation that could easily have been avoided with a little courtesy.
After this incident, even though it was already past 1 p.m., we decided not to stay for lunch, as none of us felt comfortable dining there anymore.
There are several other Chinese restaurants in Milton Keynes worth visiting — for example, Taipan for its food quality or Kam Tong Garden for its pleasant environment. I sincerely hope this restaurant will pay more attention to staff attitude and customer service in the future. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be coming back...
Read moreThe dining atmosphere and environment are great! People there are nice but just too busy. The food is just not right, some dishes are terrible. The tea cups are ugly, and not convenient to use, and it’s way too heavy and hot. Roast meats are good, but the sauce/soya sauce is way too salty. Same to the Cheung Fun, the sauce is way too salty. Har Gao and Siu Mai are way below standard with the filling like meat paste mixed worth loads of pork fat, not much shrimps. Custard salted egg lava buns are supermarket quality, I suspect just order from supplier and reheat. Deep-fried glutinous dumplings are like made by a normal person with no skill, the filling is not right, thick skin and poorly fried. The worst thing is the so called lab Cheung clay pot ice, it’s terrible and disgusting. A pot of steamed low quality rice with not taste, but some sliced lab Cheung and an egg, how dare you call it a clay pot rice and charge £8. And it’s cold when served! It’s one of the worst food in the UK I’ve ever tried. Hope the quality and taste will...
