The Red House — Restaurant in Milton Keynes

Menu's are not updated from the website compared to the menu inside. If you have new menu's then it should be updated from the website and the same menu inside same with the drinks menu. Found out that the carvery is now on a Sunday. The food took nearly over 1 hour or 1 hour and a half to be brought out, we ordered before two set's of people and they had received there's first and then when ours did eventually arrive mine took a little longer. Our starters took a little while aswell me and brother shared bbq chicken we didn't get given plates separately to put the finished chicken bones onto only to what they served them with originally in a small bowl. They should have a number or some sort of ticket system so they know when to bring out the food to the right people. The service was terrible they kept on nearly forgetting our drinks orders or when we asked were they were a couple of times, one of the waitresses nearly spilled drinks when it was balancing on her when she was giving them out, she should of put the drinks down onto the table. My step mum food was cooked properly and asked them to re do it and then in her main dinner she found a small of film that covers meat. Was not busy as far we could tell. Me personally will not be coming here ever again. Ruined my 1st time and on my birthday. When we come to pay for the bill I guess the manager at the time was apologetic said this should never happened but appreciate the small 20% discount for the inconvenience and 1 round of free drinks for the inconvenience but this still doesn't change my view of the place. This place needs a couple more of staff members to cope with the pub and a couple more chefs and...

This is one of my favourite restaurants but tonight was awful. It took 5 minutes for anyone to see to us when we arrived, even when we booked, the waitress and lad were oblivious we were there, the lad didn't know what the drinks were when handing them to us, when he handed us the meals he thought the salmon was seabass, the salmon must have been cook hours prior and left somewhere to keep warm as the thin end was so rubbery and chewy, it was inedible, the potatoes were the same, the lad came to us with another tables desserts, we asked for the bill and she totally forgot, it was like a sauna in there. There was really nothing nice about it. She asked us if everything was OK as she was taking the plates, and I said 'well no actually, the salmon.....' with which she walked away without listening. The lad came over and did exactly the same. He actually heard me, looked back, then walked off again. Maybe it was his first day, but im sure I've seen him there before. They really need to change the staff and chef. Won't be going back for a while....

This evening we decided to overlook all the reviews we have seen and try out for ourselves, we didn't set ourselves any kind of expectations or plan to compare to any other establishment. For a local small pub that has only just opened to serving food we are very satisfied. There are a few teething problems but what place doesn't have them I.e timing behind the bar and few little till problems but it didn't cause disruption. Food was clearly freshly made, I.e chicken Goujons the best I've seen and tasted from a pub/restaurant. Our burgers were above what we expected and the kids cleared there plates, which doesn't happen often when eating out. The staff were very friendly, smiling and service was prompt. A particular member of staff, Adam, ensured we were happy with our food and our service and made us feel welcome in the establishment by engaging in a short but sweet conversation which is always nice.
