Quite simply superb. Lovely, welcoming staff. I only came in for a cuppa and cake, so glad that I did. Homemade profferings, yum yum. I was curious about the homemade Dorset Apple Cake, never heard of it before so I had to try it. They even offered to heat it up, I hadn't realised it was served warm. Wow, what a huge slab it was when it came! It was light, melt in the mouth, tasty, fluffy gorgeousness and, I have to say, could probably almost be the best cake I have ever eaten. Totally delicious. I must admit I was a bit shocked how badly chipped my teapot was, and that tea would even be served in such a damaged pot but this cake was just so über brilliant I'm not going to mark this brill caff down for that. Reasonably priced menu. Kids menu too. Gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options available. Well, this place has to be on my return list. Highly recommended for anyone who likes good service and homemade cakes....

Having been here a number of times since I've lived on their doorstep, I have never been bowled over by the product.

The service, for the most part, has always been good. The food and drink have always been unexceptional and far from worth the cost.

Their cakes, on the two separate occasions I have ordered them, have been dry and stale - perhaps kept longer than is deserving of paying customers. Another time, I ordered a jacket potato which had evidently been microwaved, and was so under-cooked it still had the crunch in the middle of a raw potato...

The drinks are fairly unremarkable. The tea and coffee - having ordered both numerous times - meet the minimum criteria to be called either, and therefore warrant neither compliment or criticism. I personally would prefer better examples of...

We love this cafe and come most days. From our own point of view we give it full marks, but would ask if it is possible to put up a sign asking dog owners not to allow their dogs on the furniture? This morning we were treated to a large, slavering bull dog sitting on the bench opposite dribbling all over the table. Needless to say, it was being fed from the owners’ plates which contributed to its vast size. Last week a big English setter was treated in the same way by a lady who sat with her arm around it throughout her meal. We have a dog ourselves and she sits beside us on the floor. She’s perfectly happy there, as are numerous other dogs who are brought in to the cafe because it is dog-friendly. Owners who let their animals jump all over the furniture are taking advantage of the...

First time trying here for breakfast. Very friendly staff, quick, efficient and engaging. Breakfast was good, a tidy and friendly environment, nothing outstanding but above average and a warm atmosphere. I did find it a bit odd at the end though, that the menu items on the receipt do not add up to the total, and the bill was more than I had expected, I felt this wasn't handled very well when I returned to query this, which is totally justified. The gluten free options are clearly marked and they do do gluten free bread.

As always, the best cafe in Lyndhurst! We love it here because the staff are so welcoming and friendly, the owner is non pretentious and actually comes to chat to the guests, as well as mucking in in the kitchen, the cafe is dog friendly (the staff will gladly bring your pooch a bowl of water) and the food is consistently fresh and cooked to perfection. We always make a bee line for Peggy May's when in Lyndhurst and are never disappointed 🙂
