First visit to Shappen Cafe after a recommendation from a friend. Pleasant surroundings. Busy inside so had to sit outside under electric heaters. Car park to rear, with gate access to rear of cafe. Visited again today and despite being busy due to the Crystal and Gem show we were still served quickly, only minor criticism is not being able to have scrambled eggs with the Full English is was a no from the kitchen despite 2 of our party ordering scrambled - poached eggs were excellent though.

We love stopping off at Shappen Cafe when passing through the new forest, staff are very friendly & Happy, it's table service to order, food has always been very tasty which I can only put down to using local products & a great cook! Highly recommend stopping here. Outside seating area plus pet friendly.

Fantastic coffee and food. Service was excellent. Very good value for money. Bike rack for bikes and lots of space. A must visit if you are in the area.

We decided to try Shapens as we pass it everyday and it looks very appealing. The staff were very pleasant and attentive and the hot drinks arrived to us quite quickly. We waited quite some time for our cooked food to arrive, our drinks were long gone when it did and unfortunately the cooked food was terrible, the sourdough toast was like concrete the bacon was so undercooked (possibly someone’s taste) it certainly wasn’t as we ordered (Crispie), one plate of Poached eggs on toast only had one small poached egg on one piece of concrete, when I asked the staff if there was meant to be two she scuttled off with the plate to fetch another as she thought there was two (clearly confused by a small ball of egg white attached to a ball of yolk)! The other poached eggs on toast looked ok apart from the concrete base they were sat on! One leaf of wilted spinach a small spoon full of avocado on one breakfast and a larger portion on the other, can you not see that is going to annoy friends sat together looking at there breakfast wondering why one is so much smaller or very different to the other, why would you even try and serve that! We won’t be going back for a cooked breakfast that’s for sure, there are lots of places to go locally for a decent cooked breakfast, Shapens isn’t one of them. Shapens needs to look at the chef or chefs something is very wrong! Unless you like Cake (but can’t comment on their quality but they did look very nice) or a hot...

One year ago today I went to this Café with a friend after walking 2 hours to reach this little village. We were tired and needed drinks and foods to replenish our energy. We absolutely loved this Café. The ladies serving us were very nice, smiling brightly, and even accepted to let us charge our phone who was dangerously low on battery so that we could use Google Map to find our way back. The drinks were refreshing, just what we needed on this hot day, and the food was delicious! The Café itself is very pretty, we were sitting outside and got to enjoy the fresh air and little garden but also from where we were sitting we could admire the inside, the decoration is great! This mix of good food, good drinks, very nice workers and great decoration offered the perfect experience that I still think about a year later! I highly recommend...

Popped in yesterday for a takeaway coffee with my husband, we both ordered flat whites, mine was with oat milk. Unfortunately as a barista myself I couldn't help but watch the coffee be made, knowing that standards are different in all coffee shops I try not to judge! ( but the amount of time the espresso was sat out before the milk was even heated caused the espresso to become quite bitter) The other issue I found was that the steam arms weren't being purged between uses, this can really lead to cross contamination as there could be allergies present. One last small issue I found was that you don't label your alternative milk coffees, which could lead to mix up and again an...
