I have been actively avoiding this pub for the last couple of years since the clearly intoxicated landlord kicked my sober elderly grandmother out on Christmas Eve (by screaming and spitting in her face) because a miscommunication between staff meant they let her in despite the landlord thinking the pub was “too busy”. But tonight my friend went in to watch the Liverpool game with his mates and ordered a glass of water (he doesn’t drink). The landlord came over to his table, singled him out and told him that he wasn’t allowed to stay in the pub unless he ordered an “alcoholic drink”. My mate asked if he could buy food, was told they’d stopped serving. He offered to buy some bags of pork scratchings but was told “that would never amount to the price of a pint”?? Despite all his efforts he was forced to leave. If I could give this pub 0 stars I honestly would. It’s such a shame because most of the staff are lovely, it’s in a great location and is a nice building. If the insufferably arrogant landlord was removed I’m sure this pub would live up to its potential but until that day I STRONGLY, STRONGLY recommend you give this pub a miss in favour of ANY of the other pubs...
Read moreAvoid this pub. Though the majority of staff are welcoming and friendly, the manager/landlord on this particular night was anything but that. After my three friends and I got some food and two pints each at the local (and better) Lounge, we decided to head to the Inn on the Furlong for a couple more quiet drinks before heading home. We entered the pub in a respectful manner with some non-intrusive laughs and a few jokes.
While I and another friend went to get a table, we were promptly approached by the manager/landlord and was rudely, and condescendingly told (he was too close for normal circumstances, let alone social distancing) ‘I’m going to save you boys the embarrassment and tell you we aren’t going to serve you, it’s clear you’ve had too much to drink so I’m asking you to leave’.
It was clear to a blind man that we were not intoxicated and that we were acting appropriately, needless to say we shrugged our shoulders and left.
That night they missed out on roughly £100+ worth of drinks due to their manager being rude, and seemingly too lazy to pour pints.

Read moreCame here for a friend's birthday in August. We had been in the New Forest and were very hungry. No food was available. We were a large group and bought a fair few drinks. The drinks service was very slow and the cocktails were low standard, mojitios with far too much sugar. We had some food from outside which we tried to eat in the garden without a fuss. Didn't see it as an issue as the pub sold no food and we were spending money. From here on, my girlfriend was completely ostracised by the staff. They made up stories about how she made the guests uncomfortable, she was told not to take her drink to the toilet (for a girl this can be very unsafe leaving a drink in a pub you don't know). And was generally bullied by the staff to the point she was in tears wondering what she had done. Our entire group ended up leaving and finding somewhere...
